Can't say I agree with all you say in yer essay, my FRiend, but you've made as compelling an argument for Dubyuh's presidency as I've seen in quite awhile. I remain hopeful that Bush'll pick a few worthwhile fights with the RINOs and RATs before November so the Right can make the case for how much better the second half of Bush's first term will be if we can get him a working margin in the Senate.

He will. The thing is, he, like Raymond Spruance at the Battle of Midway, is governed by the
principle of
CALCULATED risk. He will not expose himself to political damage without the probability that by doing so, he will inflict greater political damage on the Dems.
I trust that he would not have gone ahead with this plan, which is pretty close to the one Congressman Billybob's described elsewhere, unless he was pretty sure it would work.
And given the firepower on our side, we'll take most of it down. The only surviving provisions will be the disclosure requirements and the increase in the hard-money limit. Toasted left-wing, anyone?
