Is Shakedown worth reading? I've got a pile of books to get through but I've been considering reading that one.

Yes, IMO.
I am a readaholic.
The details of how he started, his brothers, the techniques used, especially the details of his prior trips to Africa were fascinating.
The book is fascinating, and easy and quick to read. But it isn't a keeper.
I got it via amazon.com.

Is Shakedown worth reading?

Absolutely. I alway knew he was a shakedown artist, but the level of his corruptness was and is appalling. His ties to commies and the problems in Africa are worth the read by themselves.
