Dan, can you back up those pro-abortion claims on Upton? That surprises me and I'd like to confirm it.

He's actually a moderate on it like Bonior and Dingell. Pro-abort is a bit far, but he did endorse the morning after bill. Not good enough in my opinion. Right to Life refuses to endorse him.

"Last year he voted with Right to Life 75 percent of the time. He opposed a controversial late-term abortion procedure called partial-birth abortion by its opponents, but voted to allow government approval of abortion pills. Shugars has a 100 percent voting record with Right to Life.

"We have never been able to endorse Fred Upton," said Right to Life of Michigan PAC director Larry Galmish. "I wouldn't mind seeing a pro-life candidate in that race.""" Click here

Upton's American Conservative Union rating for 2001 is 76% out of a possible 100. His 2000 rating was 60%. His lifetime average is 71%.

ACU doesn't consider a member conservative unless they reach a minimum of 80%.

He voted wrong on Family Planning Funding, School Vouchers, Campaign Finance Reform.
