"David Lange, a Labor Party prime minister between 1984 and 1989, told New Zealand TV that Quayle, vice-president under President Reagan, had made the threat during a meeting with Australian cabinet ministers"
Hey, Einsten, Quayle was not the VP under Reagan. Duhhhhh, he was Bush's VP.

"There was personal pressures, there were veiled threats, there were specific threats ... It was announced to the Australian Cabinet at one stage that I would have to be liquidated," he said, adding that the threat had come from Quayle. This is what happens if you wrap the tinfoil too tightly around your head. It could cut off oxygen to the brain.

He starts off lying, Quayle was Vice President under Bush, not Ragan.
If Quayle threatened to kill him, he probably deserved to be killed.

It just goes to show that if you let down your standards, one thing leads to another. First he can't spell "potatoe," and next thing you know, he's a killer. Talk about slippery slopes. I'm glad the media are on top of this.

When I first saw the heading on this post my opinion of Dan Quale soared. However, after reading more I find that I am disappointed because he failed to follow through.

"It was announced to the Australian Cabinet at one stage that I would have to be liquidated," he said, adding that the threat had come from Quayle. Yeah, but Quayle thought the word meant "bathed".

Some how I have trouble seeing Dan Quayle swatting a fly, much less considering the illegal removal of an annoying PM of an unimportant country.
Sorry NZ, but at the time you had not yet gifted the world with "Xena, Warrior Princess."
