One of the few times I detested corpsmen was when it came time for predeployment injections. We would get anywhere from four to eight shots. Line up, run through, and whatever you do, don't flinch. Air injectors as well as traditional shots. I always felt like a pincushion afterwards.
LadyX, good on you. I endured the routine well too, but I sure wasn't going to smile at 'em! Maybe a one finger salute from the end of the line...I wouldn't do it at the front of the line. LOL!
Yeah COB1, they gave us a shot in the rear in boot that felt like they cut you open and stuffed an egg in the cheek of your behind. They then proceeded to "march it out" over the next couple of days. The same "cycling" for the arms as you went through too.
I'm with you Snow Bunny, I don't do shots well. I get 'em, but I don't have to like 'em.
Hey Tonk...You mean there were actually regular needles they could have used? LOL
LOL...I'm sure glad it was a ruse. It wasn't so much the shape of the needle as much as where they told us they were going to stick it! LOL A little too "delicate" to post where.
BTW, the turnaround is over, no major accidents, only one minor injury and everyone was pleased with the work. A bunch of old plant hands I've not seen in years will be retiring and I'll probably never see them again. I even met some folks I used to work with. I've missed those folks, but the work is still the same...rough and dirty. We'll see how it goes.

Have to laugh at this, because when you MUST have 'em to survive, they are nothing!
Twenty-eight years ago I developed very brittle (frequent extremes, high and low) insulin-dependent diabetes, the current Game Plan two types of synthetic insulin.
They cannot be given together - one is twice a day at 12-hr intervals; the other according
to a sliding scale before meals and at bedtime.

That adds up to SIX injections every day - and more if the blood glucose is soaring.
The high pain threshold I've always had is invaluable - they truly are nothing more to me
than a gentle flick of the finger on the skin would be to you.

It is mind over matter - life is a precious thing!
Sixteen years ago kidney complications led them to state I would be buried in less than a year;
more than likely, 4-5 months.
They underestimated a stubborn Irish/German/Scotish/English God-loving MARINE! LOL
