USO Canteen Freeper Style
War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil. We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.
On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.
William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."
The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.
This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."
We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.
This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.
Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!
"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

You guys have my prayers for that seat too...which district would that be? It's the new second district. Incumbant Kennedy (R) will take on incumbant Luther (D). It goes from Stillwater, across the top of the suburban metro to the western suburbs. The new sixth will have a strong Repub in John Kline, who barely lost in the old sixth last go-round.

"I'm with you Snow Bunny, I don't do shots well. I get 'em, but I don't have to like 'em." Have to laugh at this, because when you MUST have 'em to survive, they are nothing!
Twenty-eight years ago I developed very brittle (frequent extremes, high and low) insulin-dependent diabetes, the current Game Plan two types of synthetic insulin.
They cannot be given together - one is twice a day at 12-hr intervals; the other according
to a sliding scale before meals and at bedtime.
That adds up to SIX injections every day - and more if the blood glucose is soaring.
The high pain threshold I've always had is invaluable - they truly are nothing more to me
than a gentle flick of the finger on the skin would be to you.
It is mind over matter - life is a precious thing!
Sixteen years ago kidney complications led them to state I would be buried in less than a year;
more than likely, 4-5 months.
They underestimated a stubborn Irish/German/Scotish/English God-loving MARINE! LOL

Thank you ladies. Yes, Bunny I just got your card today. Thank you sweetie. My email was working here and there. My screen kept saying. "You have unsent messages. Would you like to send them now?" So i kept saying "Yes." LOL,LOL. How many times did I send you the same email? LOL,LOL? Oh gosh, computers can be so funny sometimes.
Guess what? I have this girlfriend from California I met when we used to work together in the '80's. We had kept in touch thur out the years. When we moved to New Jersey we lost contact. I thought she was either mad at me or she had moved away or something. Well, yesterday, I got a postcard from her. She was in the area, and long story made short, she was here yesterday. We visited all afternoon, giggled and and caught up with eachother. Seems her home burned down and so did all her addresses. When I sent her a Christmas card this year, she got my new address and phone number. It was good to see her.

That adds up to SIX injections every day...It may sound course, though not meant to be...Better you than me. I, like you, would do it, but I still wouldn't like it.
What am I to say, I feel helpless. Someday, a cure? One would never know unless you spoke of it. My family has a history of diabetes too and I monitor myself.
Keep fighting the long fight.

..Sixteen years ago kidney complications led them to state I would be buried in less than a year; more than likely, 4-5 months. They underestimated a stubborn Irish/German/Scotish/English God-loving MARINE!..Maybe they should have asked the Creator about the timing.....He is the One who determines that.

Whoever, you will then appreciate the conversation when the nephrologist gave me the results of the kidney biopsy.
I had done my homework in the hospital library on the three things he was sorting out.
Since I had worked before as the only help for a GP, I knew the hardest thing a physician
had to do was give bad news to a patient; especially one he'd had only two months.
When he got to the part of "All I can do is hold your hand while you go down the tubes," I interrupted him to tell him it was all right - I knew The Great Physician - and Whose Timetable is is!!
He was disbelieving, but I meant it, seeing ANY time left allowed me to tell loved ones and friends things that needed saying.
The funny thing was as a Department Secretary in a major hospital (Greensboro, NC), I interacted literally with all staff and most physicians, having coffee privileges in the Physician Lounge.
Word of the diagnosis and prognosis circulated throughout the grapevine, and they waited for me to decline and become depressed - HA!
I bounced along those corridors for nine more years, in their professional faces, demonstrating Who is in charge of all things!
He finally put His sheep out to pasture, and I found the grazing land of Free Republic!
I am blessed, sixteen years later still essentially the same so far as kidney function is concerned.
To Him goes the Praise and Glory!
