Not at all, but to bring the spirit of the form of compromise under discussion into your allegory:
The men behind the trees will agree to come out from behind the trees and lay down their weapons in exchange for bayonets and ammunition.
And I'll say it here if I haven't yet: This bill eliminates the Informed Voter by restricting access to vital information on the candidates FOUR MONTHS out of every year. The Informed Voter, that's me, and possibly you, forms a significant part of the Republican base.
BTW: Don't mistake my use of your allegory as anything *but* Clintonesque in nature, if you have problems understanding it.

This bill eliminates the Informed Voter by restricting access to vital information on the candidates FOUR MONTHS out of every year No disagreement with you on your objections to the bill. I am counting on SCOTUS to strike that provision down, and I believe George is, too. And I pray we aren't wrong. Just saying the President has a lot of strategery he has to juggle, which we don't, and that I trust him, that his reasons are derived from love of this country and what it stands for and his efforts to insure the country survives.
