That's fair -- it would be interesting to look at the stats from the victim's point of view to see how many abuse victims had same-sex rather than opposite-sex abusers. But it still seems to me that it's a minor diversion from the main issue: how do we as a society get rid of pedophilia?

Sadly, I'm not sure it's possible.

Despite the allegations of some, I don't think that pedophilia is a "rising" problem. I think that it's as bad as its always been, it's just that more people are aware of it (ie, more people are speaking out) than before. It doesn't help that negative reaction against the increased awareness has spawned "support" movements of people who, for some reason, don't quite get the emotional damage it can cause.
