John Wayne hated high noon.
For those who are youngsters in this crowd: High Noon was a slap at the attempt to throw the Communists out of Hollywood in the 1950's.

High Noon, the old black and white western about a retiring sherrif that just got married? How does that movie have any liberal or communist message in it?

" GRAPES OF WRATH " is probably tied with " OUR DAILY BREAD ' , and both easily beat out any more modern movie ! " OUR DAILY BREAD " is a pure, unadulterated paean to COMMUNISUM ! It is far more lauditory of Communism, than " REDS " ever dreamed of being. It is the kind of propaganda film, that led McCarthy to try to out the Comies in Holywood. It is blatant beyond belief !

I don't get your complaint. Were you unhappy that there just wasn't enough evidence to convict?

Pretty good, but no one was awake long enough to find out if it was a liberal movie or not.

In High Noon, Gary Cooper played the western sheriff who went out to face the bad guys alone. The "bad guys" were HUAC, the House UnAmerican Activities Committee, which was asking too many Hollywood liberals embarrassing questions about their Communist past.
I'm not dreaming this up. PBS has had programs about the era which pointed out the hidden message in the film. Why else would John Wayne have hated it?

" THE BLUE LAGOON " and " WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE " ?
"THE BLUE LAGOON " was a Victorian novel, and NOT written by one of the Fabians, nor a Marxist of any stripe. The first movie, most assuredly was NOT left leaning, and I fail to see what was , in the remake. It is; however, a representative to that genre; it's a Victorian / Edwardian mindset, that like the GOTHIC novels, of their day, was a set piece and written as pop culture.
Could you please expalin ? Thanks.

BTW: M*A*S*H, including the TV show, deserves a mention. The characters demeaned anti-Communism, promoted the idea that the war would go away if we would just quit fighting, and heavily slandered Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
In reality, none of the cast was worthy to lick his boots!

Well, if you don't know about the hidden symbolism, it's a pretty good movie.
I can think of one reason why john wayne would have hated it. The whole town was on the side of the bad guys. No one was on the good guys side eccept the town drunk and the immigrant lady of unsavory reputation.

I don't get your complaint. Were you unhappy that there just wasn't enough evidence to convict? No. My complaint is that a jury is supposed to make a judgement based on the evidence presented, not make up far-fetched scenarios in order to exonerate a criminal because of the "bad breaks" society imposed. When the jury foreman transforms into an attorney for the defense during deliberation, that's where I draw the line.

yep. It also riddiculed the military, praised the enemy, and portrayed homosexuality as a humorous thing(maxwell clinger's cross dressing schemes)
