Randy ROCKS and made my job sooooooo much easier. He went mano a mano with Blecccch(pitouie!) so I could just be subtle and charming. Best teammate a girl could ask for!

Turns out Mrs. Blek was one of the Founders, or on the Board, of the Bell Campaign, which funded the MMM.
Then, once they kicked DDT out, Blek became President of the MMM.

Very interesting stuff there. Thank you.

Thanks for posting this, lowbie. We missed you!

Not as much as I'm missing all of you.

I only wish I could've been there!

Gun Ownership vs. Gun Control Panel Discussion: A Parody by Paul D. B., 3/21/02

Last night, there was a Gun Ownership versus Gun Control Panel Discussion at Harbor College. This was put on by Students for Individual Liberty so that the students at Harbor College could hear both sides of the discussion and make up their own minds. I'm sure that the three students that attended found it very informative. I hope that they weren't intimidated by all of the NRA people that comprised the rest of the audience.

Since many of you weren't there and I'm a libertarian, I've taken the liberty of condensing the two hours down to a few completely unbiased minutes.

The first speaker was an attorney: Charlie Blech. You don't have to know Yiddish or read Mad Magazine to know what Blech means. Blech made the following points:

1. My son was killed with a gun, so I'm taking it out on all of you;
2. Guns aren't safe; someone could get killed;
3. I don't want to ban guns, just make them impossible to use; After you make guns large enough to put on all the warning stickers that I have in mind, it will be way too heavy to use.

The next speaker was Anna Longname from Liberty Belles. Anna said that among the pro-gun crowd, the woman were prettier and the men were manlier. The gun control crowd was filled with ugly women and sissy men. Which side would you rather be on?

Next up was Jennifer Student. Jennifer said: My uncle is a cop. Once, during Christmas dinner, he was called away because someone got killed with a gun. We need to ban guns so that my Uncle will be able to have dinner without being interrupted.

The final speaker was Randy. With Anna and Jennifer on the platform with him, it is no wonder he was randy. Randy said that if you put emotions aside and look at the facts, you can come to only one conclusion. That obvious conclusion is that lots of people make lots of money doing studies and writing books. Randy further said that his life was saved four times because he carried a gun. Six more times and Randy outdoes his cat.

At this point, the audience had questions and comments. One lady said that Randy should not brag about not being killed four times. Back in NYC, her husband saved his own life five times because he carried a gun. Since her husband was not with her, I assume that the sixth time he went out, he forgot to take his gun with him.

Another young women said that she was scared to go out alone, so she bought a gun. During the waiting period, she was raped. Now she is one of the walking wounded and it is the fault of the gun control crowd. Blech said that she may be wounded, but a having a dead son is worse than meeting a wounded stranger so he will continue his jihad on law.

Keep up the good work Liberty Belles!

Here's my opinion on gun-control laws, legislation and restrictions. If a state or government entity or a business is going to place restrictions on someones right to self defense then they must be held culpable for the end result. Therefore, I propose legislation in all states that simply states that the restricting party will be held legally liable for death or injury to any person resulting from the denial of the right to self defense.

If a shopping mall, business, school etc forbids persons who are licensed to carry a concealed weapon to bring that weapon on the property, they take full responsibility for that persons safety and welfare. In the event that someone is harmed while in a "gun-free zone", they can and will be sued for damages. In the case of the family breadwinner, resulting loss of all future income as well. Businesses will have to provide security for the property as well as security escorts to and from persons vehicles while on that property.

I have taken that stance. If I go to the mall or other store and there is a decal on the front door stating that concealed weapon is forbidden, I return to my car, lock up my gun and I call the store and ask for security. I request a security person to escort me from my car to the store. When I'm ready to leave, I go to the customer service counter and ask for a security person to escort me back to my car. If they make an issue about it, I reply that I am carrying a large sum of cash and your store doesn't permit my CCW. If they refuse, I write the editor of paper & CC the store management and simply and without any opinion state the facts:

I visited the store on such & such date and time and was informed that my CCW license & weapon was not accepted or permitted on store property. Since I was carrying a large sum of cash for shopping, I requested a security escort and was denied. Therefore I was forced to leave the property for my own personal safety.

I have been thru no less than 3 FBI fingerprint and background checks to maintain my CCW license, I have spent several thousand dollars on PROFESSIONAL training, far more training than most police officers receive which includes legal training, shooting training, psychological training and other aspects related to armed self-defense. I have never had to draw my gun because a portion of my training is how to avoid situations where I might encounter a need to use a gun. The best form of self-defense is prevention.

I am not the enemy and I refuse to be treated as the enemy. If you encounter a gun-free zone, I urge you to do the same, request a security escort. If enough folks start doing this, they might get the point.

I wish someone would sometimes ask Mr. Bleck which of the thousands of gun laws kept that weapon out of the hands of the guy who murdered his son--or which of the myriad of gun laws passed since then would have kept his son alive.

That's been my point as well. He brings up the problem: son killed by thugs on subway, and then backs legislation so we can all be killed by thugs everywhere.

I too feel sorry for his lose, for I cannot imagine losing my son. However, I feel that I can hate what he is doing to make me and mine less able to defend ourselves.

Thanks.

I guess I have to happily eat my prediction that the MMM'ers wouldn't show, given how poorly they did.

(I cleaned up one of the photos to get rid of the haze. I think everyone should get to enjoy a clear view of you.)
