Thank you for the post! Cleansing IS a mercy, no matter how painful...I pray that the Church will be an example for all the world of the power of God's love and grace! Just as a good wife cannot have a clean house without rooting out dirt, so it is necessary that what has been hidden must now come to light for the sake of holiness.

I agree. I think that while a lot of this is manufactured by the liberal media due to their hatred of the Church's "barbaric" beliefs against abortion, homosexuality, and contraception, there is a definite problem in the Church with these cover-ups (moreso than the molestation itself).

The Church needs to cleanse herself of the bad while maintaining all of the good, and not bowing down to the secularists.

It could be the start of a new Counter-Reformation.
