Dr. Tsonas's assertion, first made to the F.B.I. in October but never disclosed, has added another layer of mystery to the investigation of last fall's deadly anthrax attacks, which has yet to focus on a specific suspect.
OK, so the why is the FBI being so closed mouth about the source of the antrax? Why is the FBI being so closed mouth about the potential involvement of Saudi citizens in the antrax? Why is the FBI releasing trial balloons that the antrax was the actions of a lone right wing domestic wacko? Why is the (not so)Good democratic Senate Majority leader, who was a target of the attack and critic about everything else the executive branch does, keeping his mouth closed on the topic of anthrax?
The simple explanation is that the source of the antrax would embaris the government where the spores came from and that the route from that source to where there were put into the mail system would embaris an allie of the US and cause political problems.
I hope that the relatives of people killed and that the postal union keeps the pressure on the FBI to tell the truth. It would be nice if reporters got serious about this as well, but I doubt they have the initiative.
