Suicide bomber was under Arafat control
WorldNet Daily ^ | March 22, 2002 | FROM DEBKA INTELLIGENCE FILES

Posted on 03/22/2002 5:40:21 PM PST by FreeperinRATcage

The suicide bomber who killed three Israelis and wounded 87 yesterday was "arrested" by Yasser Arafat's forces five days ago, then taken to the headquarters of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, strapped with explosives and sent on his mission, according to a report by DEBKA-Net-Weekly.

"Five days ago, Arafat told the Americans and Israelis that his security forces had arrested a potential suicide bomber, Mohammed Hashaika, in the village of Taluza near the West Bank town of Nablus," the report says. "Arafat, out to prove to the Americans he was serious about fighting terror, asked them to press Israel for permission to transfer the terrorist from Nablus to Ramallah so that his security forces could keep a closer eye on him. Israel assented – but the young Palestinian didn't spend a single hour in Ramallah prison. Instead, he was taken straight to the headquarters of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades – a force belonging to Arafat's Fatah faction – where officers loyal to Col. Tawfik Tirawi, chief of the preventive security agency and the Palestinian intelligence officer closest to Arafat, handed him an explosives belt. After showing Hashaika how to use it, they sent him on his way to downtown Jerusalem to carry out the attack."

According to DEBKA's Israeli police sources, "The bombing marked the first time in his 40 years of waging terrorism that Arafat has been caught red-handed. He personally arranged for the transfer of the suicide terrorist to Ramallah – and he knew exactly what for."

The report by DEBKA carried a disclosure that further details of the incident were withheld due to a court gag order imposed at the urging of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

DEBKA said Arafat's actions followed the pattern established in 1985 when Palestinian terrorists, commanded by Mahmoud Abbas, hijacked the Achille Lauro cruise ship. Arafat, the report said, was in direct radio contact with Abbas. Every word Arafat said was recorded by Israeli and Egyptian intelligence. Abbas chose one passenger, a wheelchair-bound elderly American Jew named Leon Klinghoffer, as a hostage.

"What should I do with him," Abbas asked Arafat.

"Throw him into the sea," Arafat answered.

Abbas carried out his order and Klinghoffer died.

Meanwhile, officially, Arafat continues to distance himself from such acts of terrorism.

"The Palestinian suicide bombing that shattered lives and storefronts in downtown Jerusalem on Thursday also made a shambles of any coherent Israeli and U.S. policy toward Yasser Arafat," said the DEBKA report. "The aftershock of the attack would be even greater were it not for an Israeli court's gag order, issued at the urging of the prime minister's office, banning full DEBKAfile reporting on the atrocity."

OK...this should make things in Israel real interesting. This is also the first I've heard of the Arafat connection with the Kinghoffer murder.

If it is true - then what is the U.S. to do with its then blatantly obvious double standard toward Terrorism? Our national policy and the public expect Israel to just "take it" from Arafat the killer terrorist while at the same time we expect the whole free world to line up behind us to single-mindedly destroy the Taliban killer terrorists?

What's wrong with the inconsistency of that picture???

Is there any doubt that the bomber was one of Arafat's?

By the way, I'm not one to trust Debka, but if it's Israel news, I might. I think that's where they're located, no?

The other horror is the fact that this slimeball arafat broke bread with clinton how many times the eight years the pervert was in office. I am finding out more about this guy now than ever before. I never really understood this battle and things are starting to get much clearer to me now. It sickens me to know how much the last administration coddled him.

He is also responsible for the death of the U.S. ambassador to Sudan, Cleo Noel, in 1973.

Debka is on the whole very, very good on Israel stuff and on the ME. Elsewhere your mileage may vary. But nowhere are they as bad as some freepers seemingly has an agenda to make them out as.

Kill Arafat. The sooner the better.

As it says in the art of war... fight now while you are stronger than your enemy!

I knew this story was crap the moment DEBKA dragged in the Achille Lauro. But if people want to believe this, go ahead. Most people wisely avoid this junk.

Just like the noxious Arab media, "news" organizations such as WND and DEBKA work hard to fit the world view of their audience, playing to their fears and prejudices.

Actually, DEBKA has turned out to be pretty reliable, especially if you take their analysis as "there is a good chance this is the way it is" rather than fact -- more reliable than say, the New York Times. Perhaps the people who have a problem with DEBKA are those who are prejudiced against the Israeli perspective to begin with. If you want the Palestinian side, tune in CNN.

This is also the first I've heard of the Arafat connection with the Kinghoffer murder.

That is because the JEWS on board killed Klinghoffer themselves because he had bacon with his eggs that morning. They then tried to pin it on the PLO. Justin Raimondo has PROOF of this. (www.analwar.com)

I knew this story was crap the moment DEBKA dragged in the Achille Lauro.

The story may well be crap. Wouldn't be the first time by any means for Debka. But how does the reference to the Achille Lauro so indicate?

Do you mean the story that Arafat was recorded in communication with Abbas? (BTW, is that S.O.B. still alive? I know he was still a top PLO official as of last fall.)

I've often wondered if the claims that Arafat was recorded ordering murders in this case, and in the case of the American diplomats in '73, are true. If you have some information indicating the definitely are NOT I would be very interested. Thanks in advance.

Amen to that. I've always seen Debka in a similar light as Drudge - very sensational, wild rumors, but sometimes right on the money. I'll never forget Drudge nailing the Monica thing, and Debka has been on the mark before. All that aside, if Arafat can be linked *definitevely* to this bombing, it should be all over. If even part of this story is true, no more talks. It's done. That's *if* a reliable source can verify that Arafat knew what would happen.

Oh, it's DEBKA. These are the people who reported 3 times that an Iraqi invasion of Israel was imminent within 48 hours.

Actually, I doubt thats true, unless it becomes gneral knowledge. Arafat has already been seen actively promoting suicide bombing and terror strikes against Israel, and he's still involved with the "peace" process.
