Sarah Brady, Gun Criminal?

Move over, Rosie O'Donnell: The newest "celebrity" anti-gun hypocrite is Sarah Brady.

Mrs. Brady "bought her son a powerful rifle for Christmas in 2000 - and may have skirted Delaware state background-check requirements," the New York Daily News reported Thursday.

Some people will do anything to tell a book. No doubt to increase interest in what otherwise would be a boring memoir, the gun rights opponent writes that she bought James Brady Jr. a Remington .30-06, "complete with scope and safety lock," at a gun shop in Lewes, Del.

"I can't describe how I felt when I picked up that rifle, loaded it into my little car and drove home," she writes. "It seemed so incredibly strange: Sarah Brady, of all people, packing heat."

According to her book, the store ran federal Brady Law and state background checks with much ado. But the book suggests she did not have her son checked, as required by Delaware law.

Delaware Justice Department spokeswoman Lori Sitler said the purchase could be illegal if Mrs. Brady did not say who she was buying the gun for and submit his "name, rank and serial number" for an inquiry.

"You can't purchase a gun for someone else," Sitler told the Daily News. "That would be a 'straw purchase.' You've got a problem right there."

Gun rights advocates were surprised to hear of Mrs. Brady's antics.

"We hope that it's innocuous and there's been no laws violated," said James Jay Baker, chief lobbyist for National Rifle Association. "It's obviously interesting that Sarah would be purchasing firearms of any kind for anybody, given her championing of restrictive guns laws for everyone."

Seniors United Supporting the Second Amendment told NewsMax.com it was asking Delaware and the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate "what appears to be a criminal act" by Mrs. Brady.

"Sarah Brady is infamous for her radical anti-Second Amendment positions and her work to strip the citizens if the United States of their civil rights. She is the head of an extremist group that is working to gut the Bill of Rights," the group said in a statement.

"Sarah Brady is typical of the anti-civil rights radicals," noted John Bender, executive director of SUSSA. "She wants to ban private transfers of guns for everyone but her and her elitist friends. If a black mother in a Delaware public housing apartment did this she would already be charged with a crime. I’m wondering if Delaware has different enforcement standards for rich white women.”

The group concluded: "Sarah Brady is one of the leaders in the anti-civil rights movement’s attempt to make all private transfers of firearms illegal. Along with other extremists she pushed Congress to make this type of straw purchase illegal. Law enforcement should show her what her work has accomplished."

Mrs. Brady became a media-adored opponent of the Second Amendment after her husband, James, White House press secretary to President Ronald Reagan, was shot in a 1981 assassination attempt on Reagan.

True hunters don't kill for sport - they eat what they kill. Again, if the knuckleheads you hang around with don't eat what they kill they are not hunters.

Some hunters do not eat what they kill. These hunters donate the carcass to organization like Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH). Here, they killed the animal, and instead of hogging it all for themselves, they share it with the hungry people you find in shelters.

Sungirl's argument about hunters not needing to kill wildlife because they can buy meat from the grocery store is full of holes. The hunter has to eat. Just because a slaughter house had killed several tons of cattle for beef does not mean that the meat was meant for the hunter to eat. The only time the meat was meant for the hunter to eat, the only time ANY PERSON was meant to eat that meat is after they have paid for it, or otherwise took possession of the meat for consumption.

The hunter goes out to the field and decides to harvest an animal. After a successful harvest is when the hunter eats.

Once again your ignorance comes into the light. Go ask at a sporting goods store.

Or go here:http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/fish_and_wildlife/regulations/hunting/

Unless you're afraid to read something that might actually cause you to learn something.

Yeah I have yet to try it but the recipes I have read and the stories from guys who have had it make my mouth water. Once I tried squirrel stir fry and that didn't work so well. My mom thought I was nuts.

Just realized, 145 posts and it hasn't been said yet...

145... seems like the same number of posts it has been since Sarah Brady's name has been mentioned in a thread ORIGINALLY posted to discuss her hypocrisy. Okay...which one of you is the HCI plant sent here to steer this thread WAY off topic? :-)

She bought the gun when the kid was 23? according to LINK . Has anyone read the book (okay...glanced at it at the library) as to why she bought the gun? I would love to see the Brady bank records pre-interest in gun control. Who is the Richard Mellon Scaife of gun control? Does son work for Handgun Control Inc.? Nothing on Google about that. My tinfoil hat is slipping, but serious questions.

you should teach your kids to kill animals....it's wrong.

Why? Because you say so? The whole animal kingdom is full of creatures that kill other creatures...so it certainly isnt abnormal.

Why are humans not allowed in your eyes to kill other animals for food? Unwittingly you kill millions of gods creatures every year, as do all of us. It must lie in the concsious decison to kill. Why is a concsious killing of animals out of bounds?

She's been around here too long to be a HCI plant. You are right, however...maybe we need to keep a close eye on her.

THen I continually heard about the plans to get away with more deer than were allowed...all kinds of deceiptful plans.... THen there is this guy who just last year here in florida told me about his hunting fatherinlaw who said he was going hunting and was talking about getting the PROTECTED cougars...he said they were definetley coming home with one of those because "THERE AREN"T MANY OF THEM LEFT YA KNOW!!

If you were law-abiding, you should have tipped off the Game Ranger to poachers. Game wardens are assigned a lot of territory and they require help to stop poaching. Hunter Education classes mention this, more than once.

As far as the PROTECTED cougars, the hunter in question is breaking the law. Mind you, I did not say that the law is correct. I remember when California banned the hunting of mountain lions, they showed the baby cat, or the baby cat with the mother cat. What they did not show is what the mother cat hunts to feed to the baby cat. Domestic pets, cats, dogs, deer, and other sources of meat. Some hunters I talk to say that the deer population in California is lower now since they have banned mountain lion hunting. Go here to check out about deer population trends.

On the same site, they have hunter's feedback and you hear from long time hunters as to how the population of deer has decreased since mountain lion hunting was banned. Not too long ago, there was a woman jogger who was mauled/killed by a mountain lion. I wonder if the woman was still alive as it was being eaten alive by the mountain lion.

Link here Mountain Lion attack

I wonder if the family of that woman or that child knew about the policies that contributed to their loved one's deaths. I do not subscribe to the belief that we should go back to the days when humans hid in caves during the night to hide from these predators.

Please ...if you have any kids out there in your registered road kill farm...do society a favor and teach your kids not to kill animals. Thanks.

Please, if you have a pet peeve or irrational belief, don't try and tell me to raise my child as you would do your own. Raise your own child!

As long as I raise my child to respect your rights and property, don't presume that I owe you anything.
