"Internet piracy has been blamed by the music industry for disappointing 2001 sales"

Sure. It couldn't be the fault of the really sucky music that came out in 2001 (ok, there were a few exceptions.)

Sucky music in 2001. I would say that music has sucked big time over the last decade. "Music" is now marketed rather than created. Outlets for new music and bands are limited with many radio stations being run as businesses instead of a fine balance between business and creative out. Corporate takeover of radio has hurt music. And look at MTV which once used to play music videos all the time-now it is full of whining PC programs with faggot propaganda. Don't kids have fun anymore growing up instead of whining about their angst-ridden effeminate lifestyles? During Clinton's first years, I believe a bill was passed which allowed owners to own and run more than one radio station in a market. Many good stations disappeared since then because formats were changed by the corporations to kill competition in a single market and the music was standardized or programmed like classic rock stations. DJs can rarely play new music or express their individuality, nowadays. You have to go to smaller area markets to find radio stations with some individuality and ability to play a wider range of music which interestingly are more conservative markets. Big government or corporations using big government leads to loss of individuality and creativity.
