From ATF F 4473 Important Notice 1

"... You are also the actual buyer if you are acquiring the firearm as a legitimate gift for a third party. ..."

I hate to rain on everyones parade but this was a legal purchase. It still stinks of hypocracy. By the way, why is she buying her son a sniper's rifle any way?

I believe the question is not about federal law, but state law. State law requires to provide the information on the person the gift is for. She did not do that.

Now, as others have pointed out, if she is not a resident of Delaware, then even more laws have been broken. I have no idea where she lives.

Hmm.... that's got me thinking.

Maybe things are so bad off at the gun control lobby camp that they are going to do some sniping of prominent citizens to further their cause. Time to put that rifle under surveilance.

And if you read two posts down, you'd know I tipped my hat to Eugene Tackleberry for picking up on the "straw purchase gun runner loophole". You're not raining on my parade, in fact I mentioned that I believed there was an exemption for gift purchases to a non-prohibited family member in one of my posts.

There is, however, some debate about Delaware law and whether she might have been in technical violation of state statutes.
