I should have known this would be something written by Pat Buchanan. Any opportunity to attack Israel!

Lets see some discussion of these issues without the smearing howls. Calling Buchanan's America first views anti-semitic is blared by the Israel first and free Pollard crowd.

I couldn't agree more.

*yawn*

"While Israel is indeed our ally in the war on terror, its annexations of Arab land, its dispossession of the Palestinian people, and its denial of their right to a homeland and state of their own on land their fathers farmed for a thousand years are a principal cause of this war and a primary reason why America's reputation has been ravaged in the Arab world." Is that hatred masquerading as common sense? Or merely common sense.

Yawn all you want. Buchanan is indeed an anti-semite.
----------------------------
So merely criticizing Israel makes one an "anti-Semite?" Okay, whatever. And I suppose you're also foolish enough to believe that pro-Israel always equals pro-Jew. Explain the pro-Israeli, anti-Semitic views of Richard Nixon, Pat Robertson, and Jerry Falwell to me, then.
To: Canavan
Or better yet, how about the widespread discrimination in Israel against non-Western (i.e., Sephardic and Ethiopian) Jews? Is it "anti-Semitic" to point this out as well?

You expect to see discussion of these issues here? On FR of late? Don't hold your breath. The haters will spread their venom on this thread as well. We've already seen some of it here. So much for supporting the president in this time of war.

So much for supporting the president in this time of war Is it just me or does it seem as if everyone is pulling at W these days? And nearly all of it from Republicans! All these guys love to write and talk and yet, not one of them can get elected to anything! It's getting to be a bit sickening.

And when Buchanan points it out, he is called an "anti-semite". Go figure.

The anti-semite accusation is just a knee jerk reaction to Buchanan. I don't support Buchanan but I don't think he is anti-semitic.

I think Bennet has a point.
I mean, we will go and prosecute a "war" on terror whever and whenever we feel we are threatened.. But when Sharon does it, well then it's a bad thing.

Buchanan is an anti-Semite.
It's time for the Jhoffa_ challenge!
Everytime I see someone calling Buchannan an "anti-semite" I always ask that they prove their accusation. Thus far I have asked many FReepers and to date no one has offered any convincing evidence that this is true.
Is this something that people just parrot and has been said so often that it has become fact in the minds of many?
I don't really care one way or the other about it, because I am not and was not a Buchannan supporter.. But I would like to hear you prove this claim of "anti-semitism" if you can.

There's one problem. Anything Israel does is seen by the arab world as the USA doing it as well. They use American Money, American Planes, American Bullets, American Missles, American Born Soldiers and Amercian Riffles. I think we have a right to tell anyone who uses all our weapons to defend themselves what to do?

But at least you would rather debate what he says instead of what he supposedly is. That is admirable. Attacking and slandering the source is an old Leninist tactic.

Knee-jerk reactions are par for the course here at Free Republic, I've noticed.
