President Bush and First Lady Laura are on their way to Latin America for a four-day trip with visits to Mexico, Peru and El Salvador. In a stop-over in El Paso, TX, Bush spoke to a crowd about increasing security at our nation's borders. He also visited a local customs inspection area. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Are you the person who always says he's leaving a party, but hides around the corner to see if people are talking about him?

Some of the names I recognize as Buchanan supporters. Othes are Keyes people. There are quite a few who are new to the forum (since January).

Dare I suggest that this is coordinated? It seems so to me. Plus there is a pattern in which when the news stories no longer are dwelling on the issue, they switch to vanities and "calls to action."

They did this with stem cell, then immigration, and now CFR. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, of course, but when the person who told me that he would never vote for Bush again because of immigration turns around and posts that he will never vote for him because of CFR, I begin to think the motive is not the issue, but rather the eroding of President Bush's approval ratings.

Yes, I saw that Ambling into History is on its way, and sorry the thread ran away from me. I will definitely discuss, and post some goodies on the Dose about it, too.

I tried to point out to some of them this morning that sometimes ALL of us have to go back on their word, circumstances beyond our control.

Evidently there are some pretty perfect people on FR that I wasn't aware of. :-)

So not only are you not a gentlemen like GW -- who would never have stayed on this thread after being asked/told to leave -- you are a liar.

You have said you are leaving -- so do it. Liars, btw, have no credibility. Zero. Nada.

It's always the extremists who demand that everyone live up to their self-proclaimed ever so high standards who lack character.

it will give the Dems an advantage - otherwise they would not have all voted for it (except for 2)

Not so fast! The Dems are sheep (and I'm beginning to believe that many GOPers are too). They voted for this bill because they thought it was going to give Bush a problem. But it doesn't. Even if the courts don't throw out the unconstitutional part (the ban against media ads), he's going to be an incumbent in 2004 - he can collect tons of hard money (the bill raises the limit) and he can use his pulpit to campaign for anyone he wishes. The opposition will have a hard time refuting that.

Also, a lot of money can go to local jurisdictions, and if you remember the 2000 map, even in states that went for gore, most of the jurisdictions went for Bush. It's only the large cities that vote Dem.

Bush would have a problem if he vetoed this bill and let the talking heads shows spend weeks, if not months, discussing it. Now what are they going to discuss? How Congress passed an unconstitutional bill? How the Senate is holding up judicial nominations? How the Dems can't figure out how to come up with their own budget bill?

The ones who got snookered are the Dems.

I don't like Diane Fienstein's views, but she at least seems like an intelligent person.

She is dog s***, which is what I wrote her when she kowtowed to the ChiComs during the EP-3 incident.

Re post 55:

I hate to say this but I think all of this Bush bashing and name calling is Limbaugh's influence.I find it hard to listen to him lately.Hugh Hewitt is better.A lot more intelligent.

Feinstein was totally worthless as mayor of San Francisco. She hasn't changed.

However, she did vote for the tax cut which is more than I can say about my two Senators.

it is not amnesty. It is an extension of the date for those people who missed the dateline to apply for the permanent visa. it applies to those who either have been here illegally but are married to an american, or have been employed and therefore qualify for a permanent visa. These people who have visas that have expired they have been checked out already and they missed the filing date. It is an extension of 245 ergo 245(i) and it is very limited. These people pay a $1000 fine. This is not amnesty and the media and the right wingers are certainly distorting this. The people who apply for a permanent visa have to go back home and many of these people are the bread winners of the family. Is that what we Republicans want--break up a home? It is not very kind of us.

Tell me how you really feel. No, let me explain. I don't agree with anything Fienstein stands for. She is a filthy lib. But, what I am doing is comparing her to Barbara Boxer. In comparison, she seems more intelligent. Boxer seems like a complete idiot.

I hope that the thread maintains this lighthearted spirit that makes me love it so much.

I think it will be a bit more serious for a couple weeks, then the debaters and bashers will wander away, and the coffee klatch will return.

Rigt and it takes a real leader to admit he was wrong and change directions. However, you will never convince the one issue wonders.
