President Bush and First Lady Laura are on their way to Latin America for a four-day trip with visits to Mexico, Peru and El Salvador. In a stop-over in El Paso, TX, Bush spoke to a crowd about increasing security at our nation's borders. He also visited a local customs inspection area. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

>>Bush said a long time ago the Republican party could not use him as an escape goat. He said then if it hit his desk he would sign it. He is keeping his word.

You are absolutely right!

He said loudly and clearly "Don't expect me to do your work for you."

Maybe he is "training" the Republicans that they have to do their part to kill something like this. and by signing it, he may be preventing a larger problem down the road when, instead of expecting him to bail them out, they get busy and work out the problems.

If they all worked as hard at finding solutions as he does, they would have sent him a good bill.

Okay, I went back and reread the whole thread. I wanted to make sure that I had not jumped on you too hastily. I did notice the sequence of things. You did, in fact, start out nice. However, it went down hill rather quickly. I responded to your post # 81 in which you said OWF was pathetic.

Listen, everyone's nerves are a bit raw and there are so many threads in which to debate this CFR crap. I think the point made by many prior to the mudslinging was that they really didn't want to hear it, tonight, on this thread. You refused to honor that request and just kept digging a bigger hole. I do recognize your moniker as a poster on this thread before. However, if you know anything about women, you should know that it isn't wise to pick a fight with one, let alone many, when they don't want one! I assume you may have learned from this experience.

Good point, but if he says he has some "serious Constitutional concerns", then he should not put his name to it.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt over the amnesty bill. If he signs CFR I'm finished with him.

Im not so sure it is unconstitutional, who does it affect? Interest groups like NAACP, and then only 60 days before an election. If it is unconstitutional then i have full faith it will be repealed. It is a lose lose situation for President Bush concerning the defeatist on this board who are forever looking for a reason to lose, look, they gave up on his father and for what, we got Clinton. Certain people on this board are the reason Republicans are in the minority, they feed on their own over the little things and ive us crap. It really isnt that big of deal, we thrive on hard money anyways, and the demoncrats live of soft money. Rush Limbaugh swayed me against him today when he said Ford signed just as unconstitutional bill years ago, if it was so bad why have people not been raging over it since then like Roe? I htin he signs it, it gets repealed and they cant attack him over it like you know they will. Once again I dare to ask what is so unconstitutional? Where does it inhibit individual free speach, we can still demonstrate, and protest. No name groups just cant buy garbage ads like the Byrd ad anymore. They can still run issue ads though.

You know, that's a problem I see with the Republicans. Our guy does any thing to disappoint us and we're gone. Look at the DemocRATS. They could be in a sinking ship but they sink together.

Hello. I have had a little talk with myself tonight.

The Campaign Finance Sham legislation sham/shame hit me in the stomach when the 40 or so "Republican" Congressmen and women voted for it - and then the 11 or so "Republican" Senators voted for it.

My anger on this issue is towards them - not towards our President.

I certainly would like for President Bush to veto this bill because it contains unconstitutional restrictions on free speech and because it will give the Dems an advantage - otherwise they would not have all voted for it (except for 2) and their mediapresstitutes would not have pushed for it for these many years.

The Dems already have enough advantages - primarily the UNIONS and GOVERNMENT WORKERS (most of whom are in Unions) who get paid tax dollars to supposedly work for US - but who, during the election season, become taxpayer paid agents of the Democratic party.

Most Republicans are not paid a dime for their work for Republicans. As a result, Republicans have many fewer "foot soldiers" in the election wars. Also, the Demonrats have the advantage that they can pay people to vote, they can bribe people to vote, they can bus people to vote, they can invent people to vote, they control the voting machines in many counties and states - meaning most elections are decided before the votes.

Now this little measure stops people from being able to band together to point out a voting record - unless they give less than $2000 or whatever the total is towards getting an issues ad out. Problem is that will allow the Feds to find out exactly who gave the $$$ for the ads - and it will allow the Feds - in a Demonratic administration or Senate - to demand prosecution for law abiding Americans who simply wanted to band together to make voting records clear to voters right before an election.

The Dems work and work and work and work to get their "wins" and they almost always get them.

Our wonderful President could squash them in their faces like we have been smashed in our faces by this farce....with a veto. But, I understand the desire to just get on with things more important - such as defending this country and going after the bad guys who want to kill us.

I further admire his team for all their hard work in very very difficult circumtances - especially being infiltrated by hundreds and probably thousands of leftover Clintonistas whom they cannot fire.

They also face the hostile press.....day in and day out.

And, of course, they face the enemies of America - in the Demonratic party and across the world.

So, end of long story - I will do what little I can to work to get rid of the sheisters in the Congress and Senate - both Repubs and Dems. The ones who continually vote for things that are destroying this country. And I will support President Bush and his team because I know they are doing their best under very trying circumstances. (I wish they would get rid of the Gerald Ford-like advisors).

That's where I am tonight. Thanks for the pictures, as always.

Couldn't agree with you more. Republicans abandon ship at the first sign of trouble. The democrats stuck with their president. They stuck with CFR and voted for it and where were the Republicans if they knew we opposed it. Come on, I agree that the people who are complaining about CFR and Bush signing for it would not be found when the media and the democrats dragged GWB thru the mud with his veto. No way. I think a president is entitled to change his mind as the situation presents. With Enron and his ties to Enron I doubt that he would survive and the war would suffer if he did not sign. Anyway where was all the outrage when the voting was taking place. That is the time to talk with your senator.

I must say also that I believe Limbaughs first loyalty is not to Republicans but to his job, and when does he have t better and when can he be more controversial? When a democrat is on office, think about it.

Sigh.... After reading tonight's Dose, and several others which are clearly topic discussion threads (hint, hint), one thought comes to mind. I never thought I'd see the day where I could believe that my small-town, liberal rag contains articles which are more complimentary to President Bush than what is being stated by "conservatives" here at Free Republic! I look forward to my paper and a good cup of coffee tomorrow morning......

"Let the United States Supreme Court tell JOHN McCAIN that he wrote, supported, and passed an unconstitutional bill...

You have written MANY good points throughout this thread - I've really enjoyed reading them.

I particularly like THIS one! Wouldn't THAT be something??? -- Great point.

"Algore couldn't win his home state, now he's trying to steal mine."

ROTFL!!! Fabulous!

I'm not going to run around looking for a quote, because I never supported Bush because I thought he was perfect.

The Bible tells us several things. Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's. The last days will be led by the AntiChrist, who will be very popular. God's prophets annointed some monarchs, but never a democractic leader. People are sinful and need a Savior. Lots of things about human nature and the path to salvation indicate that political entities are not that important in the divine scheme of things.
