President Bush and First Lady Laura are on their way to Latin America for a four-day trip with visits to Mexico, Peru and El Salvador. In a stop-over in El Paso, TX, Bush spoke to a crowd about increasing security at our nation's borders. He also visited a local customs inspection area. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

[[[Howlin, if it weren't this it would be something else. He does not and never did have their support. They have been complaining since he took office. I ignore the whinners.]]]
that's right! These are the extremists, the fringes -- they're never happy and they've never really supported GW. They want their own way. Period. And if they don't get it, they get mean and vengeful.
You've got to wonder what their homelife is like :-)

I'll give you MY theory if you will explain to me how you are POSITIVE that it's unconstitutional. It's not unconstitutional until it has been challenged in court, it cannot be challenged in court until it's a law, and it's not a law until he signs it.
So how is everybody so dang sure it's unconstitutional?
And do you think Bush should veto a bill that MIGHT be constitutional?

Thanks. I know people have strong opinions on both sides. I definiately have some concerns but yet I support the president overall. He's a wonderful man and I'm proud to call him my president, but that doesn't mean he's a god to me. I can see when he does something I consider wrong, I express my views to him, to his people, to my Senators, my representatives and try to influence my friends to do the same. My biggest concern is that if he DOES sign this, the DemocRATS will be the ones to throw it back in his face come election time. I suppose it could be the "read my lips" equivalent. Hope not.
One more thing, I realize that other people have their own views and it doesn't do any good to attack them. They aren't going to change. Besides, isn't that what we love about our country? We are free to speak our minds . . . at least so far . . . . at least verbally and in print --T.V. and radio ads are out :-)

I don't think I'm ever going to get tired of seeing the two of them together!Me, three!! I'm kind of glad that W is taking Laura on this trip - you can sure tell that he's missed her if they've been separated for a few days. The pictures of their re-unions are definitely x-rated! :-)
I do not miss the sleaze of the previous 8 years at all. We spent those years trying to guess which women the POTUS was patting on the fanny, and now we talk about how many times the POTUS pats his wife. I'm much more content with this conversation!

I have read that they are not going into 'recess.' They are going to employ the trick of leaving town with a few remaining in order to call them back if need be. I can't remember the technical term but they won't truly be on 'recess.' This means W can't do any recess appointments either.

Precisely. Now I'll share the post I save for all these people. I stole it from Texasforever:
To: All
In the past year, the following "I won't vote for Bush if..." threads have been posted
"Bush to cave on Kyoto"
"Bush to cave on 2nd amendment rights"
"Bush to cave on tax reduction"
"Bush to cave on stem cell research"
"Bush to cave social security"
"Bush to cave ON and On and ON"
In every one of those examples Bush fought and got 90% of his demands met in Congress or in the case of Kyoto and UN funding for abortion acted on his and told the UN to go to hell. That is never enough, there is always the next "watershed decision" that many here dream up to avoid supporting a Republican and, make NO mistake it is the hated Republican that sticks in the craw of many here, that term is more hated by the libertarians, paleo-conservatives and assorted DU trolls than the term liberal has ever been subjected to.
It seems that every day there is a new "I won't support Bush if..." thread that generates a lot of outrage and yet when the actual "event" happens there is never a thread that retracts the hysteria exhibited earlier. There is NO way a politician will ever appease the single issue voter. Just as his steel tariffs have pissed off the free traders amongst us, it is what the " Buchanan America firsters" have been demanding and yet the AF faction on this site do not even acknowledge that Bush heard them, to the contrary, they whine it is too little too late.
Instead of all this whining and crocodile tears, just admit right out loud that nothing this man does will suffice and that he needs to be replaced with the best "conservative" candidate. However; the name of that candidate appears to be a closely guarded secret since no one has actually named this person because it surely cannot be anyone of the 1% vote getters that we know today.
End of rant

The Dose has seen so many people dropping in to dump a load of vitriol against Bush for so many reasons in the last year, that those of us who are here for the pictures, the news, and the chat, not to debate the issues, have sort of made it policy to tell party crashers to take a hike.
It's knee jerk habit. Yes, this is a woman's chat club and GWB fan club thread. Misogynists and Bush bashers aren't welcome.
First and Second Amendment are vital. I just believe we have more chance with Bush than with purists who would never have been elected in the first place. My own judgment is that democracy doesn't work (the Bible tells us that), but I want this one to last as long as possible.

Tricky little bastards aren't they! I hope W sticks it to them where the sun don't shine!!! I HATE YOU TURNCOAT BACKSTABBING JEFFORDS...GO DIRECTLY TO HELL TOU BASTARD!!!
To: rintense
Unfortunately Rintense seems the only thing united us was Clinton. We all had a common enemy of slime. Now it's "I like Bush but, what has he done for me lately" attitudes.

I don't really want the right to vote repealed. I don't owe anyone who essentially tells me, "this is our little club, take a Hike" an apology.
The mentality on this thread is very similar to the news articles you read when the mom or dad says, "our little darling wouldn't do that". In effect, their love for their kid gets in the way of reality.
Overall, I am still Proud of Dubya and I still respect him very much. I just can't believe how I got attacked for making what was really a pretty innocent comment. The irony is that I've gotten into BIG arguments with people defending Dubya, and now some of the hen club are attacking me for not being totally instep with the program...Oh well.

I'm trying to remember when GW didn't express his belief that the country should come before party. He has always said that the unity of the country was more important than a partisan victory.
These extremists don't care about the country. They only care about getting their way. They want to win and stick it to everyone else. GW is not like that -- thank Goodness!
Where are the threads complaining about the Congressmen and Senators??? Why is this GW's job and not theirs'???
Is GW supposed to be the savior of a GOP that capitulates becuase they value the power of being in office more than doing the right thing??

I love that rant.
To: cactmh
Well, the vote was 60 to 40 with two democrats voting against, so why don't you tell me?
Your sceaming about what all the Radio hotheads are. I'm saying its easy to be a hothead, me and W will use our heads to Govern the Country, Win Elections, Serve the will of ALL Americans as displayed in part by their elected representitives and defeat opponents idealogically. He has done this on every issue so far and in advance of his rabbitt pulled from the hat, he had all the dems and dumbs like y** screaming until you saw the light. Have faith and don't think your more right than any other American is all I ask.
Who says I didn't say anything then? Maybe some people didn't want to believe that Dubya would do it...especially since he is on record saying he would veto.
His statement about CFR in 2000 was no ... Read My Lips, but you treat it as that. How many campaign promises did Clinton break with absolutely no critisicm from his party even in his extreme case. It seems to me like historically excelllent Presidents, Patriots and men like 41 and 43 get to only break one promise and we treat him like Churchill and unwisely see that they are voted out of office. Historically dumb to disrespect your candidate. Disagree yes YES YES but never disrespect, this thread got heated up by soemone who mentioned W peeing on the Constitution.
"This whole battle is a distraction and to join it is to make the terrorists win, you know, daschle, gephart..."
I put my country ahead of silly political arguments. Sorry if you don't.
Petty debating tactic to put words in my mouth, juevinile.
"I agree with some of the other Freepers, like the media, you're upset about something that hasn't happened yet."
Good strategy, wait until a bill is signed, and then write the white house and try to change things. Brilliant.
True, and its brilliant to try and read minds, and spaz about events that have'nt happened and get the opponent elected. Two ways to defeat an opponent, deny them what they want and give it to them good. I see this is a a great chance to slap McCain and Dems, you seem obsessed with Limbaugh rant about Constitution which hwoever true is not cutting it in the mainstream at least yet. Its like screaming the sky is falling even if it is. If you're right your crazy, if yu're wrong who cares, death anyway.
'You and yours are going to put Gore in office over a goofy McCain debacle. Why are we not yelling at him?!?!?!?!?!'
I don't like McCain...It's a given that he is an ass and of course he is wrong on this. For some reason I have President Bush at a higher level of respect and I have higher expectations out of President Bush. As far as giving the election to Gore, I didn't say I wouldn't vote for Dubya again, I am simply disgusted with him for caving in to political pressures and games. In fact, I am a FL voter and I convinced my mother (also a FL voter) to vote for Dubya. I helped him get elected. I also protested at the FL State Capitol for Bush...
My point is that the group of Repub screamers in total will can harm his power at a time of war and the whole lot of you should think about 92 and 96 while you state your perfectly valid opinion.
"You "see" what Limbaugh, Liddy and Savage tell you to see. And either way this bill will mean nothing to this country period."
Well, I've never heard Liddy and Savage is for CFR...Apparently you don't listen much.
No Savage has lost me due to his personal style, not politics, and you are right he is for CFR and is the equivilant of the Repub screamers who say this is a read my lips moment.
"Don't say the 60 day ban because thats only soft money. W's campaign money came from %65 of $2000 donations from us! HARD MONEY!!!! All this sophistry over the Constitution is drivel spit from those who just want to beat the bill, it is not based on fact. Good luck campaigning for Gore!
Campaigning for Gore? I guess the 38 Republican Senators are campaigning for Gore too? I don't care where President Bush got his money last election. It's not about one election or one party. It's about the Congress making laws that infringe on our Constitutional rights.
You still don't dare argue your point. The Bill is not so blatantly un const... as it seems on surface as explained here many times and provision for removal of unconsti... itmes. Fight the facts with facts not jibes at other's opinions.
Are you for laws that limit the number of firearms purchased every month, mandatory gun locks and other "common sense" laws regarding the Second Amendment? I mean, it's not like these laws really do anything to the Second Amendment. If you don't have an intelligent answer, don't answer at all please.
I see things my way and you yours, I won't let you pigeonhole me with a loaded and quite boring question. I don't like or support this bill.
You still don't have the courage or intelligence to layout the points of your opinions, you just spit out what your told.
And yes, look it up. Sunshine Patriot, is a patriot in good times and self serving when its tough. YOU! Thats YOU! I would have loved to be in Florida during those heady days, but, now when W requires a little faith and support, you mind readers run for the caves or worse yet, jump right in the other guys foxholes and start shooting back while your faltering around in the dark.
By the way if you can't state an intelligent response of your own opinion instead of distorting mine, don't even bother to respond or breed.
To: rintense
Rintense, you think this is bad. You had the nerve to go shopping last night ?? (get anything good?) Do you have any idea of what you missed?? LOL It got lively to say the least. Lawgirl and Registered almost came to blows :-) over the CFR.
Listen, Babes & Bucks, there is no use getting all excercised over something we can't do anything about. We'll agree and disagree and figure out for ourselves what to do about it "if and when". Let's not get ugly. That is the Rats forte. And they are SO good at it.
As many here have implored, please take the nasties to the plethora of other threads that are discussing this ad nauseum. We're here to celebrate The Day in the Life of President Bush- and Laura. And there is LOTS to celebrate. JMHO
