Dogs in LA have gone on a rampage upon just hearing the verdict of guilty on all five accounts in the famous dog mauling trial.
"They broke into my store and stole or chewed everything", said a storekeeper. "Half of them weren't even housetrained". Police were able to hold off most of the packs until a large group of weiner dogs made there way underneath the barriers and began attacking ankles. "The weiner dogs were the worse", said officer B. Fife. "We had to resort to throwing steaks and making a run for it." Several of the dogs also broke into federal buildings by using visas given to them from INS. After stealing and burying hundreds of documents several of the dogs registered to vote while others collected welfare checks and food stamps.
Lassie Jackson, a dog and dog's rights activist, stated, "This is the fault of the Human Race. We've been oppressed for over 300 years and should be compensated."
Meanwhile, Grey Davis ordered that all cats be declawed.

He goes to big houses and threatens to bite the owners until they give him something to eat.

From Clifford Simak
City. 1952. A classic and non-standard science fiction novel. The basic premise is that the invention of the family airplane and helicopter led to a sweeping change in demographics. People moved to the countryside and the cities became abandoned.
A character, Bruce Webster, surgically altered dogs' tongues enabling them to mimic human speech. Over thousands of years dogs evolved high intelligence and the capability of speech. Chapters in this book may be separated by hundreds of years. In the end, the story is told from the dogs' perspective and humans are long gone.
