Oh come on you guys. Ken Starr was a lousy prosecutor, but face it, he was (and continues to be) a first rate Constitutional lawyer. He has an excellent reputation with the USSC, and he knows that this is a prime opportunity to regain his reputation.

There is a BIG difference between trying to prosecute the scumbag (which Starr had exactly zero experience with) and arguing a case before the Supreme Court (which Starr has extensive experience with).

I agree. I really think it is a bad move!! Why is Ashcroft going to defend this piece of crap legislation anyway? I don't get it.

Starr ought to resign and appoint Kathleen Sullivan, Dean of the Stanford University Law School, as the Chief Legal Counsel.

She has major credibility.

Starr is a 'goofy-guss' tainted with sex in my humble opinion.

ROFLOL!!!

Why don't the Pubbies just take out an ad in the Liberal Media and announce the fact they think their constituents have a collective IQ of 6.5?

Just a moment folks. This is actually Starr's area of expertise if I recall his background correctly.

He was a poor proscecutor, no question about that.

This is a different kind of lawyering in which he has demonstrated prowess.

I think when some Freeper attorneys weigh in, they may agree with me.

The usual method of things is for the admin to defend bills against those who seek to attack them, even if they personally dislike them.

I agree. Bill Clinton made it about "sex", not Ken Starr. I wish some of these people would settle down and THINK.

Bush said the bill is "flawed," but promised to sign it because he said it improves the system overall.

This is your brain on Pragmatism.

He is going to be arguing the case in the Supreme Court, not the media. This is not necessarily a mistake.

All I can figure is that McConnell is signalling that if W doesn't grow some 'nads and veto this abomination that Mitch will turn it into a circus and destroy the Republican party. That's all I can tell....

Oh good grief. If he handles this like Whitewater, he'll spend six years putting his case together and end up working on an immigration act.
