Kenneth Starr is a first-class lawyer. Let's not forget that he was the Solicitor General of the United States. (He represented the U.S. Government in any action before the Supreme Court)

Before the Clinton debacle, he was considered non-partisan and a strong candidate for the Supreme Court. I worked as a paralegal during law school for the Solicitor General. He was not there at the time. But in a candid conversation with life-long staff there, they pointed to him as one of the friendliest to hold the top-spot. (As one might imagine, there are some powerful egos in those halls). This was the fall before he took over the process, so I had hardly heard of him.

I later met him on several occassions as he took a teaching position with my Law School and I became a member of the Alumni Board. He is a gentleman and a great legal mind.

His expertise is this type of appellate work. He will serve his client well.

Of course you both are right about Starr. I think much more highly of him than Bush right now. I was just saying, not on the basis of law, but on the basis of public relations. Like it or not, it's both.

0:48 (est.) Congressional News Conference (replay)
Legal Team Announcement
U.S. Capitol
Kenneth Starr , Whitewater Investigation

Worth watching! for an explanation of their plans. Example -

Reporter: How can you file a case when there hasn't yet been an injured party?

Judge Starr: The minute this passed, we became the injured party.

Well -- I disagree. This case will be made on briefs, constitutional analysis, and in oral argument before appellate judges with life tenure. This is what Starr does, and few have done it better.

Do you have time to answer that epistle? Know what I mean? Did they ever find the gun, or have a suspect? Was he shot on the plane or before it took off? Know what I mean?

Yes.

Yes.

No.

No.

No evidence of that

No evidence of that either.

Yes, Vern, I surely do.

Oh brother! This has got to be some sick kind of joke? The PR consequences alone of having Starr on board will set us back at least one vote with the SCOTUS. Stupid move, Mitch. Stupid, stupid, stupid.....

Why do you waste your time arguing with BAC?

I've got this vision of BAC's life.

He wakes in the morning, thinking of Ron Brown. He knows what Ron Brown liked for breakfast; that's what he has. Then he goes back to his room, with pictures of Ron Brown on the wall, opens his closet to suits the colors Ron Brown favored, turns on his tape player to listen to speeches Ron Brown gave, gets in the car Ron Brown liked, and drives to the Brown Derby for lunch.

BAC is anal about Ron Brown, obsessed with Ron Brown, fixated on Ron Brown, dwells on Ron Brown, even has "RB" monogrammed on his white shirts (Ron Brown liked white shirts).

You tangle with this Ron Brown groupie at your peril.

And your failure to address even one of the questions I asked MEANS you are STILL "move-in" on ... still RUNNING from the REAL issue.

Agreed. When something is not in the public eye, Starr is very good. Even when it is hot-button, he's good at running the show.

CBB, any thoughts on this?

Let him redeem himself. The Clinton wolves and heinous predators will not be there to protect their idol this time. Starr was too much of a nice guy. He may have learned a bitter lesson.

I sometimes believe BAC would DIE if Ron Brown was alive.
