I understand. For those of us who truly know what it means to be free and what is demanded of us to remain free, the situation at hand is extremely frustrating. Since we are so outgunned and undersupported, we must always act from a highly intelligent and thoroughly considered position. It's not easy; it's never been. But failure is not an option.

If Henry Bowman were to surface tomorrow, how many gun owners would rush to be the first in line to condemn him?

As for me, there may be things that happen that I cannot condone but that I will not condemn.

If the Dems pushed right now they could win the fight. Dub and the Republicans in the Congress would not want to waste political capital on such a minor issue.

I think you're right, sad to say. If Dubya wasn't willing to expend this precious political capital to close the borders -- the failure of which could have catastrophic consequences considering the condition of the world now -- he certainly won't do it over the Second Amendment.

In many ways it's like what Clinton did when he sold old out the gay and lesbian lobby over "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in the military. X-42 knew they were his core constituency and would be no matter how he f-ed them over. I get the impression GWB looks upon Second Amendment supporters the same way.

Not to worry. I have stepped over that line in my passion for this cause. The removal of the right to keep (own) and bear (carry) arms is the spearhead of the attack on our society. The UN, and the left knows this. clinton thought he would move the ball forward on disarmament but Wayne LaPierre took the arrows when he accused clinton of being "confortable with a certain amount of killing."

I, for one, used to post pro-2A rants all the time...and certainly the sounding and fleshing out all relevant arguments has merit.

However, I agree with JoeBrower on this one. We will fall one patriot at a time if we allow it to come to armed confrontation.

The key to winning this battle is EDUCATION. First, teach your children and family the real use and need for an armed populace...as a check against tyrannical government. Second, teach those around you. Point to articles, facts, and books which support the cause...give them as gifts. Third, teach those you do not know. Copy brief arguments and distribute them on bulletin boards and windshields...write letters to the editor, and your elected officials.

Only though a massive "grass-roots" campaign can we win hearts and minds to our cause and stem the tide of the socialist police state.

FReegards...

--good article as far as it goes down to the last sentence, but then if falls flat. It's not just the "liberals" pusing anti gun measures. The current republican administration is fully in favor of "project exile" which is full sentencing on any of the 14,000 or so 'gunlaws" on the books now, no matter how blatantly illegal and unconstitutional they are. Their 'agents' are still harassing and arresting people over so called firearms restrictions. There's not even the constitutional equal protection under the law, that got thrown away as well. A "legal and lawful" person in one area can be considered a felon in another. I would imagine any number of decent law abiding people on this board, would they move to one of these areas like chicago or nyc or washington or new jersey, etc, etc, with their firearms collections intact would be immediately classed as "felons" and subject to arrest. Federal government under these 'conservatives' thinks that is perfectly OK.

Ya can't have it both ways, you are either "with us", or "with" the illegal gun "law" armed terrorists.
