Cathy M's husband, Tony, is an Air force commander in Afghanistan. She received an urgent email from him this morning. It said, "We need Christians to pray, pray, pray. We're in a Blood Bath here!" Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders. Pass this on to as many as you think will respond.
And don't forget about the families that are back at home. They are carrying a heavy load, too.
I'm so upset about what I heard today. So, I'm glad for all the prayers for the troops. I know they help.
Bumping some friends to pray to Cowgirl.
Thank you for the ping, Snow B.
It breaks my heart to hear this. Did your deployed family member mention what more we can do to show our support?
My husband recently returned from 3 months in Afghanistan / Pakistan / Fill-in-the-blank-istan. The whole time he was there I was writing letters, sending care packages (to him, to his medics, and to other single soldiers), and I asked relatives and friends to collect letters from children at their schools and churches. I must have sent over a hundred letters addressed "Dear Soldier" to our guys over there.
I've found that a lot of people here at home want to help but don't really know what to do or where to go. I tried to give these people an avenue to get their messages of support directly to our troops ... especially to those troops who don't have access to email. My husband said that it was probably the best thing I could have done ... especially sending care packages to our single soldiers. It did get expensive, but I was amazed at the outpouring of generosity from friends, family, and complete strangers. They would send money and/or goodies, and I would fill the boxes and ship them out.
I will admit that I have slacked off a bit during the past month or so (mental health and recuperation time I guess). But I guarantee you that I'll be right back at it within a couple of months, as I'm almost certain my husband will be deployed again soon.
I truly believe, whether we like it or not, it falls on the shoulders of the military families and friends back home to somehow help provide an avenue to make sure that their servicemember and all those serving with him or her know how much they are appreciated. I'll admit that mail delays of 3-4 weeks don't make for the best communication, but every little bit helps and it can be done.
This thread is a perfect example of military family and friends reaching out for prayer from others. Now this Air Force commander can report back to his airmen that he personally knows of hundreds, if not thousands, of people back home who are keeping his troops in their thoughts and prayers. What a morale boost that must be!
Prayers once again going out to our brave men and women overseas and to their families back home.
War is hell on the homefront too. Whoever said that really knew what they were talking about.
You can count on me, dear lady.
The prayers of the many Christians on this forum will availeth much.
Thank you for the bump.
Amen,............More Grace and Mercy,..............In Jesus' Precious Name, Amen!!!
In addition to my covering prayer given more than once a day, this has been added.
You are the God who protects and defends His children. Hide our troops in the shadow of Your wings until these calamities pass. Let no weapons formed against them prosper. Lead them to victory, Lord, for Your sake and for the sake of freedom. We pray this in Jesus Holy Name, Amen.

Father, we are in a battle for the soul of this nation .. strengthen those who willingly defend our freedoms. Give them victory, both physically and spiritually, for without You, we cannot prevail, so great is the task.
Have mercy upon our beloved defenders, Lord, and have mercy upon our nation. In the name of Jesus, Amen ...
(Thank you rangermedicswife - for your husband's service to our country - and for yours. Earnest prayers for you and for him also!)
Dear Heavenly Father, be with these men and women today and every day as they work and fight to protect and defend our nation. Cover them with Your protecting hands and surround them with Your Holy Spirit's presence. We ask the same for their loved ones left here - sacrificing similarly - for our beloved America.
Help millions of Americans who are home safe and sound to find effective ways to help those left here at home while sending words and prayers of support to those who daily risk their lives for us in far off places.
Bring all these ones for whom we pray home soon, dear Lord. Help us here to learn what we can do to help them while they are in harm's way and also how we can help them to come home safely and soon! In Jesus name, amen.
One way to help them is to get out and fight for the election of people who love our country and those who are fighting for it! I have made up my mind that that is the best way I can thank our service men and women - besides praying for them. And that is the best way I can do my part to serve our country. It may not be enough to defeat the destroyers of our country and our military - but if we don't unite and work (get out there and register pro-military, pro-America voters for one thing and see to it that they get to the polls and vote for pro-America candidates) - but if WE HERE AT HOME DON'T GET OUT THERE AND FIGHT OUR BRAVE HEROES IN THE MILITARY WILL BE LEFT HIGH AND DRY BY A CONGRESS THAT CARES MORE ABOUT ITS PERKS THAN ABOUT THE SOLDIERS, SAILORS, AIRMEN, MARINES WHO ARE OUT THERE FIGHTING FOR US!
