I'm truly sorry, but I lost your line of "reasoning" in the first sentence.

I think that for your safety and that of others, you should consider posting a warning that extreme mental gyrations and suspense of rational thought may be necessary to "follow "your arguments, and could result in physical harm and extreme mental distress.

Well said, IncPen. Mr. Bush indeed is finessing them. It takes time and discipline, of course, to set up a real finesse, and patience and discipline are difficult notions for most of the citizenry and politicians. The goal here is to maintain national support for the war against terrorism and to gain Republican majorities in the House and Senate, and to tack the Ship of State to the right. I have the sense that the terrorist threat to this country is much greater than we have been shown to date, and that many of these domestic issues will soon move to the back burner. Israel's deference to our requests to go slow, in the face of daily outrages against her citizens, suggest strongly that something quite large is looming.

which you would prefer-

I would prefer a president that fulfills his oath of office. Naive of me, I know, but if he can't even do that, then I want a different president.

I strongly count on his ethics and morality. When he loses that, he loses me!

How will you know he's lost them if you keep giving him a pass everything he does something unfathomable?

He deserves no free pass on this one. He said he did not support CFR. He supported "reform" and he was very specific and this ain't it. Not even close.

GOPers went in droves to the primary polls to get McCain out of the race, MOSTLY BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, and McCain's comments about Falwell and Robertson.

I think what Bush is going to do is sign the bill as it and let the Supremes take it down. This way the RATS can't use it against him in 2002 and he can get McPain off his back. Bush is a smart guy. He knows that the bill won't stand up against the Constitution. It's all part of the strategery!

Exactly Tony ! this guy is playing them like a fiddle - and while some (including me) get ventilated about it - he's already thought 8 steps ahead - hes got the next election wrappred up already - now only if we can quit squabbling or we will be true to form and screw up this wet dream.

It is a myth that the subject will go away only if the Supreme Court rules it unconstitutional. The Court has already ruled that Congress cannot limit spending in a campaign. In Buckley v. Valeo, 424 U.S. 1 (1976) (USSC+) the court ruled 6/3 that this is unconstitutional yet this CFR bill does exactly that.

The Senate doesn't care what the Constitution says or what the court says. They will pass anything they want, whenever they want, no matter what the court rules. Sending this to the Court again is caving-in to the scum.

Bush should simply point to Buckley v. Valeo and veto this piece of dung as already decided in the Court. If he signs it, he is wiping his butt with the Constitution and his oath of office.

The time has come for our representatives and senators to decide if they will keep their oaths to "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" or vote to shred the First Amendment.

D*mn right! A majority in the House and Senate have already broken their oaths, let see if a President with 80% approval ratings has the intestinal fortitude to uphold his!

How easy it is for these professional politicians to vote away the rights and freedoms handed down to us by our patriot forefathers and paid for in the blood of the American military!

Next time I'll post a coloring book and crayons for you so that we don't disturb you with a real discussion.

Hi Sussa - thanks for chiming in. I dont disagree with you and dont misinterpret my tenor - Bush is Brilliant politically - and I can admire him for that - however, its bad form to let the USSC play cleanup.

Brilliant in one regard - really cheesy in the other. And while I would like to see the office sewn up - its done, so lets work with it to our advantage. We didnt elect him as a Conservative - I dont know why every one is surprised by this. Hes true to expectation -

I'm not surprised because I was under the impression that he is a conservative. I'm from Texas and pay attention so I knew that he isn't a conservative. I'm surprised because I thought he was an honorable man. Now I see that his oath of office means no more to him than Clinton's marriage vows mean to him. That comes as a surprise to me.

I guess it's in my nature to give people 'the benefit of the doubt'. Maybe he's sure the courts will overturn CFR, and he really believes he's helping people with the 'amnesty' thing. Nobody said much when Clinton had 'jillions' made citizens, in a hurry so they would vote for him in '96.

It's congress that has ignored the Constitution by pushing this through, and after Enron, the uneducated citizens will consider Bush 'crooked' if he doesn't sign it. I'm 'with him' till he does something I consider immoral.
