This has gone far beyond absurd. I understand the differences in legal systems and the fact that Maher doesn't have a constitutional right to a speedy trial like we enjoy here. But this is completely unfair under any reasonable analysis.
I'm sure this entire thing must be embarrassing for Monaco; they've dug quite a hole for themselves, haven't they? It's not exactly like they can just let him go and still save face, but at least they could give the man a trial and stop stalling. His kids need him home.
