I'd like to be able to turn this off. Does anybody know if we can?

What's with that members thing? Are those the people who are currently logged onto the forum?

Opening the Post in a Dedicated window is Back!!!
I'll get used to it but you could have picked a better time.
IE 6 has pulled ahead of Netscape in the browser war on my computer for the first time since AlGore invented the internet. I thought I was doing something screwy.

I liked Latest Posts the way it was, because it was easier to track the most active threads--that's half the fun!!! (So what's the easiest way to track the busiest threads now?) Maybe I am a total dunce - - but I have the same problem. I have to read paragraphs of intro on all the threads now - and I can't view them quickly because of it.

I prefer the old format as well. Jim, is there an option to allow us to use "New Free Republic" or "Old Free Republic"?
(Ohmigosh, I'm flashing back to the 1985 New Coke/Old Coke days!)

As me dear ol Da' always said: "You can try to please some of the people all of the time; or you can try to please all of the people some of the time. But if you try to please all the people all the time, all they'll do is BITCH, BITCH, BITCH!"

Seriously, what does the asterisk beside "News/Activism" mean?
That there is a forum member presently there?

"I suggested to John to put the sidebars on the left. Of course that will throw all the old farts into a tizzy because they hate change." That's right! "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I believe that if you have several forum windows open (denoted by an asterick) you are automatically a member of that forum.

Is the members link a list of the people that are online here at a given time?
It doesn't appear to be a complete list of all the members.
To: Happygal
Have we lost the ability to bookmark threads? Or am I just missing the option somewhere?
To: SkyPilot
I like it! This is what I thought it should look like. The old format used up space redundantly and the articles gets bumped to the top when they are replied to. Don't go back!

Many of the changes are kind of nice, but I miss the ability to look at all of the articles in one place. With all of John's expertise, I wonder if he could make that an option for those of us who prefer that way of reading Free Republic?
