(Mexican) ID cards providing sense of security

AN FRANCISCO - Before sunrise one recent windy morning, Alejandro David stood in line outside the Mexican consulate waiting for an identification card issued to Mexican citizens living in the United States.

By 11 a.m., the line had grown to about 300 people, most waiting for the cards - now in high demand by people seeking the assurance of identification in a security-conscious, post-Sept. 11 atmosphere.
