T'wit, thank you for sharing this about your father-in-law and the ship. It means so much to share things like this and to learn about things that have happened. You are so right, that is very sad, I am so sorry too about your father-in-law when this happened.
I am so proud of our troops, there are so many sacrifices each person and family makes when a person serves our country. I hope everyone truly appreciates all our military has done and is doing now for America and for Americans.

Needless to say, I never met the gentleman. None of his three children remembers him. But he was at his post, tending his patients, when the fire cut off all air... They awarded him the silver star.
