- In October 2000, a play about Berkman entitled "Firework" opened off-Broadway.
- She was awarded the Susan B. Anthony award from the National Organization for Women
- She was awarded the Woman of Achievement Awards from both New York Governor George Pataki and the New York Women's Foundation.
I don't know of any male firefighter, dead or living, who's been so blessed with publicity.
Yet shes upset that she couldnt bask in the reflected glory of a dead sister firefighter. What a pig.
