Conservative Rock Groups?

If you've not already, check a band from Katy, Texas called Galactic Cowboys. Not only are they one of the rockingest bands I've heard and seen in the last 10 years, but they're Christians who aren't afraid to admit it. In their song "Speak to Me", the only lyrics are variations on the sentence, "Nothing's quite the same since You spoke to me...speak to me." In "Ranch on Mars", they talk of looking down on Earth from space and marveling at "the magic of The Creator's Hand". These lyrics and more are sung over some outstanding guitar work and a tight rhythm section. Check 'em out.

i remember in 1985 in a club called manhattans in spring valley NY, rockland county, queensryche played and we were like "who the hell is this" ........now i am still blown away by them i saw them at montage mountain PA (scranton) in 1996 they were great i love them................heheheh those were the days..............

My daughter was channel surfing and came upon a TV show on MTV called "The Osbornes" I think. ANyway, it's a look inside at Ozzy and family at home. I must say it's was quite a surreal experience watching.

i try to explain to my daughter about 80's music and 70's rock, led zepplin, ozzy and the rest .......i thought i was going to marry joe elliott of def lepard............but i'm glad i did not because he is not looking too good these days............ :)

You must have heard Tull perform some songs from their latest studio album DOT COM. It's a very good cd with some great guitar riffs and solid melodies like Hunt by Numbers, Wicked Windows, Black Mamba, Gift of Roses, El Nino and of course Ian's beautiful flute on the title track.

Tull will be kicking off another American tour next month. I'll try to check them out down in Fort Lauderdale when I visit Florida. Ian is still not too Old to Rock'n Roll 26 years after releasing the album by that name..

YES can be about as daffy/New Age as they come. (Well, I suppose they defined it.) But their song Money is very funny. It has running commentary by a Labour party member about taxation that's very Pythonesque.

Well, in terms of recent bands...Creed is most definitely conservative, or at least Scott Stapp is. Consider these lyrics from their song In America.

Too bad I hate them, mostly because Stapp is such a blatant Eddie Vedder wannabe and does a fairly poor job of it. I find POD to be pretty interesting, and they are conservative, or at the very least, Christian.

i know i graduated high school in 82 and me my sister freeper (geege) and my best friend bubba went to see that movie we were (wasted) heheheh we had a blast............ i remember the best concert i ever saw was rainbow and scorpions at the garden in june of 82, i have been to so many concerts but that was the best. i still listen to my scorps and rainbow, i also waited on line at tower records in 1984 in the city to meet the scorps and rudy schenker loved my shirt, also they would not kiss me becuse of "sanitary reasons" thats when klaus said............love the scorps........

Yes, he passed away from cancer. It bummed me out, especially because I wasn't even aware that he was ill.

Oh yeah, here's the story behind their "Bonzo Goes To Bitburg" song, from the Ramones Anthology book:

Dee Dee responded to President Ronald Reagan's 1985 state visit to Bitburg, a German cemetary containing the graves of Nazi storm troopers, with locomotive outrage in "Bonzo Goes To Bitburg," written and issued as a British single shortly after the event. The song was a striking reversal of Dee Dee's earlier flirtations with totalitarian imagery and comic-Nazi cracks, like "I'm a shock trooper in a stupor...I'm a Nazi schatze" ("Today Your Love, Tomorrow The World"). Ironically, Johnny, a loyal Republican, objected to "Bonzo": "I thought Ronald Reagan was the best President of our lifetime." As a compromise, the song was retitled for Animal Boy with a line from the chorus, "My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down"; the "Bonzo" part went into parentheses.

I think it's pretty cool to see so many right-leaning people into rock and metal, especially when you consider the viewpoint that rock n' roll is "the devil's music" which unfortunately still exists in some conservative circles.

You're right. During the 2000 presidential election , Frey traveled (or met ) with Al Gore and supported his campaign here in Michigan

And Glenn Frey looks like an arch-Conservative when compared to a liberal slime-bucket like Don Henley.
