It appears to me that, following the lead of G.W. Bush, Republicans care more about "cheap labor" for their businesses and pocketbooks than they do about either their country or their party.

Yep. It's the Great Sellout of the GOP. Somewhere down the line the Republicans caught the disease of corruption that has infected the democrats for decades. Money and influence peddling rules the day with the GOP these days and the interests of the American people are nowhere to be found in their twisted agenda.

Now you're getting close to the truth. It's about power and the consequent flow of money from influence.

It's about pluarlism as a growing key to power. It's about an increasing trend toward victory without a plurality let alone a majority. It's about getting elected in a multicultural society.

It's about the most transparent kind of pandering to achieve political victory which leads to power and wealth. It's the "new" politics of the 21st century and 43 is good at it.
