Actually, prior to the 1964 immigration act, there were NO restrictions on immigration from the Western Hemisphere, per Michael Barone. The Hispanic flood is NOT due to the immigration act. It is due to other factors.

I didn't say that the Mexican flood was the result of the immigration act. Social Welfare, lax border control, higher quotas, apathy of politicians, special interest groups, etc. seem to be the main issues.

Not 100% correct. You are also referring to family reunification. This is the policy that discriminates against most Americans in favor of recent immigrants in that it allows a citizen or resident alien to bring into the U.S. other family members.

The inequity lies in the fact that Americans who have been in the U.S. for two, three or more generations no longer have close family members outside the U.S. Recent immigrants have loads of close family that obtain green cards who then bring in their close family members who obtain green cards. It works something like AMWAY.
