I live very near El Paso ---but I would not live in El Paso. How'd you like your recent city tax hike? I actually prefer living out here where the colonias are to that polluted traffic jammed city. Economically I'm doing well enough but maybe I know more of the recently laid off and unemployed kids who can't get jobs. Low wages should attract business but doesn't seem to have that effect at all ---they even shut down Old El Paso (Mountain Pass) cannery.

Thanks for the info...sorry to hear about the problems at the Old El Paso cannery. I still have friends in the Canutillo/Anthony area that have family members working there.

Your comments about the traffic illustrate the point I was trying to make: based on population, El Paso has received less than half of the state highway funding it deserves. Because so few people register and vote, the rest of the state doesn't care about El Paso.

As far as my local taxes go, I'm paying much less than I would on a comparable home in El Paso.
