What difference does it make if their Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Jewish, or atheist, if one is here illegally the the laws against them should be enforced, don't you agree?

Well those laws haven't been enforced for years and a number of people have made lives here and that's what 245 was trying to settle, where someone with a sponsor or a spouse in the US could apply for a green card and it applies to an estimated 200,000 and not the millions that have been screamed about.

Like it or not the "dream", that some on FR propose, of going house to house and kicking out people and selling their belongings is not going to happen but is truly mean spirited.(I know that is a liberal catch phrase that has been bastardized by liberals, but it applies to some on FR, IMHO)

Face it we have a 2000 mile border with Mexico and there is a problem due to years of lax law enforcement. I am glad Bush is looking at the problem instead of the neglect of 8 years of Clinton.

You can, IMHO, scream that the end of the world is near, but I will take the positive tact that America has survived 200 years of immigration and will survive another 200.

You said it, not me. And the answer at this point is not to solve it by more amnesties, that only encourages more of the same. No we need to make it clear to all illegals, those that are here, and any potential ones their behavior will not be rewarded.

As far as enforcement of current laws, going door to door is not necessary. By simply deputizing all police agencies in the country with the abililty to arrest any illegals they happen upon in their routine duties and handing them over to the INS for deportation, would solve at least half the problem. Many illegals would go home on their own if they understood their presence here is not acceptable.

Legal immigration is debatable, if the country is in such dire straits it can't function properly without low wage workers, then a guest worker program with clearly worked out stipulations that are in the best interest of the country is attainable. But the chaos we now have cannot be defended on sentiment and emotion. It has to be solved if we are to put legality back into the immigration process.

Oh please not this canard again. Are you and Howlin capable of shilling for Bush’s open borders inanities without resorting to Straw Man arguments? No one serious about turning back the tide of illegal immigration in this country advocates deporting illegals at gunpoint. Those who have studied this realize that the solutions to reduce illegal immigration will take years to be successful because the problem is so pervasive.

What are my ideas? The first thing is to seal the borders with the help of the military. What’s the military for if not to protect our country from foreign invasion? Next is to do what reaganwuzthebest suggested which is to instruct law enforcement departments throughout the country that they are to detain and hand over to the INS all aliens here illegally as they find them in the course of their work. If the INS doesn’t have the current manpower for this, then increase their budget until they do. This will also require that Bush fire Ziglar and replace him with an effective manager who does not have any open conflicts about executing the duties of the job.

Perhaps the most effective remedy is to actually enforce the dormant laws on illegal immigration and exact stiff fines on businesses that hire illegal aliens to the fullest extent of the law. If the current law is not enough of a deterrent then change the law to make it uneconomical for businesses to hire illegals. Another much needed change is to fix the 14th amendment loophole so that there is NO incentive for border hopping Hispanics to run to the nearest American hospital to drop off their anchor baby and get on America’s gravy train of welfare.

There are many more actions that can be taken that can reduce illegal immigration down to a manageable problem.

Your tired, redundant, one-liner neo-con slogans only evidence the intellectual bankruptcy of your knee-jerk open borders philosophy.
