Ping!

I heard Dick Morris say that the Republicans should pick an issue, and stick with it, one that they could win on, that would have the effect of getting out the vote. When pressed, he said, "Immigration".

Regardless of what you think about Morris, he is a good political strategist. I haven't heard him say any kind words about Clintoon and his legacy as an occasional political commentator on FNC, and he says so many things that make remarkable sense.

Tancredo in 2004!!

Does the country have a choice? This whole immigration issue can't be put off any longer. It has to be confronted by someone willing to take it on.

Morris is smart, and a halt to immigration until a working agency is in place is totally defensible.

1. Compassion for the compassionate, we did not all just arrive in the USofA last week, for generations natural born Americans have welcomed new arrivals to partake and share in the freedoms and benefits of our blood bought Constitution and Bill of Rights. Now both natural born and new Americans have suffered the worst attack in our history, with more to come, perhaps nuclear, by those we have been generous with. We all deserve and should demand a halt to immigration/visas until an agency is in place that affords more protection to this population.

2. The Constitution/Bill of Rights, what is their future when we have a growing third world immigrant population that have not been educated as to the reason America is free? We have a some what normal Balkanization as these new groups congregate and carve out neighborhoods for themselves. The danger in this, is their numbers and the lack of assimilation into a cohesive united society. Their lack of education on the important fundamentals of our freedom doesn't bode well for the safety and continuation of the priciples that have vouch safed their freedoms, or our's, or that of following generations. Especially at the voting booth where ones stomach is usually the determining factor in choice of candidates.

3. Economics, it is not ok, to maintain that illegals and third world immigrants pay taxes, when the taxes most pay, if they pay taxes at all, is not even enough to cover the cost of the education of their children per year. This fact alone demands a cap on immigration. Our economy, our legal citizens, are being crushed under the weight of providing services for those that cannot provide them at all. New schools, free medical, the use of resources, gasoline, electricity (think California), fresh water, WIC, Welfare, have all become strained because of an uncontrolled flood of humanity that cannot be economically sustained through burdensome taxes or corporate/small business growth.

4. Race is not a factor, if the European's that founded these documents had bred generations of racists to follow them, the first congress that uttered the word immigration would have been hung. The doors of American would have been shut with bands of iron. That has never been the case. The openess and generosity of all Americans is world famous. However, we have a duty, and an obligation, not to sink to third world status in order to be "equal". The equality defended by our Constitution is equality of freedom to try. This interpretation that we must all have the same was never it's meaning. Not all men are equal in intelligence or ambition. I am not Einstein, never will be, I will never have a villa, or live in an upscale neighborhood, I don't resent those that do, in fact I point to them with pride in their accomplishment. Our open immigration was to lift the lives of all men, not lower ours. A yearly vacation with the family was the norm, savings for retirement and our childrens education was a struggle but doable. Not anymore, and this is the result of insane immigration policies that calls for over taxation of citizens. There is a balance to be found and we must find it and do the responsible thing that will allow us to demand intelligent, honest application of the money we give in foreign aide to make better the lives of ordinary men. To bring the world up to the standard of life of Americans without lowering our standards into the poor house.
