Sometimes it doesn't rise to the level of mythology.

If they're so sure of their position, what are they so afraid of?

They never will. They'd be p/o'ed if schools wanted to teach all of these. Only there's can be right. Uh huh.

Interesting and a first here in England.

Thanks for the post.

I can see the point in giving students an overview of various points of view, but there certainly isn't any evidence for biblical creation in the geological record.

The Evolution fairies are in a roar---frenzy---march...

"Consider someone who believes that Venus is smaller than Mercury-not because he has evidence, but because he read it in a comic book and always believes whatever he reads in comic books-or consider someone who holds that belief on the basis of an outrageously bad argument. Perhaps there is no obligation he has failed to meet; nevertheless his intellectual condition is defective in some way. He displays a sort of deficiency, a flaw, an intellectual dysfunction of some sort. Perhaps he is like someone who has an astigmatism, or is unduly clumsy, or suffers from arthritis. And perhaps the evidentialist objection is to be construed, not as the claim that the theist without evidence has violated some intellectual obligations, but that he suffers from a certain sort of intellectual deficiency. The theist without evidence, we might say, is an... intellectual gimp."

Whose a gimp--fairy??

Sounds like the best description of Creationism I've ever read: congrats!

Why people stumble...

follow madness--spiritual blindness--pride--ego--hubris...

"Were it not for the existence of sin in the world, says Calvin, human beings would believe in God to the same degree and with the same natural spontaneity displayed in our belief in the existence of other persons, or an external world, or the past. This is the natural human condition; it is because of our presently unnatural sinful condition that many of us find belief in God difficult or absurd. The fact is, Calvin thinks, one who does not believe in God is in an epistemically defective position-rather like someone who does not believe that his wife exists, or thinks that she is a cleverly constructed robot that has no thoughts, feelings, or consciousness."

...war with Truth--God--Science!

Ah, Calvin, what a lovely man, not a prejudiced bone in his body, a truly well-balanced human being and a shining example to us all.

Both Creation and Evolution require faith. Neither can be proven beyond doubt. Therefore "both views are religious". Either teach both or neither. There's plenty of science to fill the curriculum without taking a position on how the universe came to be.

I do however think that an evolution only approach is detrimental to children. What your in fact saying is that there is no God. Do what feels good, your own gratification is most important and there is no consequences beyond this life. So live like there's no tomorrow, just don't get caught doing anything illegal. (do it but don't get caught) Can you say "Columbine"

Evolution says nothing about God.

Evolution is not a religion. It simply fits the evidence better than Creationism.

There are things in the geological column that cannot be explained by a strict reading of creation/flood theory, it's as simple as that.

When will the evolutionists ever learn? Their mythology isn't science!

What does this have to do with the debate? Morality is possible without invoking God.
