Why did Bush nominate this guy? Was this more of the "let's just try to get along" approach? Now he should see what that got him. He should withdraw the nomination immediately.

If you are asking about the commisioners for the FCC, its because by tradition, equal numbers of DEmocrats and Republicans are supposed to be on the commision. Bush nominates candidates from those suggested by Senate leaders. I believe Dascle recommends people for the Democrat seats and Lott for the Republican seats. Its not a winner take all situation.

Shouldn't we start a "DRAFT ZELL MILLER AS A REPUBLICAN" Campaign?? He could be re-elected in Georgia as a Republican, especially if he is seen to break ranks in order to help Bush....

I agree with you. I will believe it when I see it. The Senate Republicans are spineless and ball-less!

The Pubbies need to make this a North-South issue. All 10 Senate Judiciary DemocRATS are from the NORTH/Kalifornicate.

As Clarence Thomas said during his hearing, which was to be the turning point, "this is a high tech lynching for an uppty black man...".

Just say these Norther DemocRATS hate the South!

Lott, Pickering's friend of 40 years, called the committee's racially charged proceedings and its 10-9 party-line vote a "slap at Mississippi." The NAACP and other liberal rights groups, a core constituency of the Democrats, strongly disapproved the nomination because they said Pickering supported segregation as a young man and had an ultraconservative voting record as a Mississippi lawmaker.

Maybe this is his wake up call. Yesterday, the citizens of Mississippi were bitch slapped across the country. Pickering is out of the mainstream, they said. Whose mainstream? Not the mainstream of Mississippi where he is respected by a majority of the citizenry.

REMEMBER the citizens of Mississippi, by a fair vote at the polls, voted to keep their flag. And we all know how well that went over in the rest of the country (outside of the South). Mississippi sent a message with that vote, "stay out of our business Washington. Let us run our own affairs."

And the Washington left answered back---"then we will not let you have a voice. You are out of the mainstream. You are backwards. If you vote to keep such a symbol of hate, no one from your state can be anything but a racist."

I hope Mississippi understands the undercurrent. I hope they are pissed, because I am plenty pissed for all of them. This is what standing up to the left gets you...retribution.

"Wake me up if anything really happens. . . ."

LOL and can you believe Lott's strategy is to warn them first so they can pile on him on the Sunday talk shows? No wonder we lose everything.

Then it's time for former KKK Grand Imperial Wizard Robert Byrd to resign, he is clearly unfit for office on the same pretext.

We MUST take back the Senate. The very existence of the Constitution depends on the installation of judges who interpret the law, rather than make it up. SUPPORT THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL SENATORIAL COMMITTEE!

And when we TAKE IT BACK, we better get Lott the heck outta out this job! Daschle's taken partisan politics to a new level; only THIS time he's done it when the country's at war, the country is OVERWHELMINGLY behind this President, and they are SICK AND DAMN TIRED of party politics...I see 1994 happening ALL OVER AGAIN. We sent a message to them back then, it's damn time we sent them ANOTHER one...WE ARE NOT GONNA TAKE THIS CRAP ANY MORE!!!

Trent Lott is being Partisan,is being judgemental and no person we nominate can expect a non-prejudicial vote from Trent Lott"! Just you watch! Is he really this mis-guided of an individual? They're walking all over him!How can he look in the mirror each day?
