Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.
That is exactly what
post-modernism is about. No absolutes. All things are equally bad. All things are equally good. Bill Clinton was our first post-modern president. We are living in the post-modern, post-Christian age. I'd like to think we can turn it around, that the ascent of George Bush signals a turn in direction, as a huge ocean liner changes direction, not on a dime, but over the space of many square miles.
But I thought that in the 80's, too. I thought that the ascension of the great one, Ronaldus Maximus, to the presidency, represented a halt to the descent downward, but it was just a temporary slowing, unfortunately, and Bill and Hilary more than made up for any time lost during the glorious 80's.
Unfortunately, it seems to me that once society is on it spiral downward, it can't be reversed or stopped until that society destoys itself. I hope I am wrong.
