USO Canteen Freeper Style

War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil.  We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.

On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.

William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."

The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.

This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."

We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.

This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.

Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!

"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

The next best thing to a mouseover, I guess. We USED to be able to do mouseovers here, but no more. I have no idea how this stuff works - there's just a formula or command for it, and I type it in and it does whatever it's supposed to do.

So, hello, g'nad! Your wife makes her own tortillas? I bet ya'll have a garden, too, right? And I'll bet supper at your house is deelicious! Want company?

Don't you just love dealing with insurance companies?
My company changed administators and it's been nothing but hassles since. I can relate to your problem.

Yes, doing just fine. I've been busy though. Haven't had time to participate in the canteen much lately, but I try to stop by at least once a day, even though I don't post anything. As always, you guys are doing a great job, day in and day out, supporting our military and their families. :-)

. . . . .

..Don't I wish! LOL!

Unfortunately, we have no garden at the moment. We live on base, and Housing Nazis won't let us till up a garden. When we were in North Carolina, oh man! Tomatos, squash, beans, zucchinni, lettuce, carrots, potatos, etc...mrs. g'nad has a serious green thumb in the garden. I loved walking out to the garden after work and picking my salad and veggies... sniff...kinda miss that...Curse you Housing Nazis!

You my frend, will always be welcome in my humble casa...

Thanks, very much appreciate that!

There is really no better taste than fresh vegetables! (though we have plenty of room, we don't garden - neither of us wants to tend it!). This is almost the absolute best dinner in the world.......(only if all home grown vegetables and fruits, though).......sliced tomatoes, canteloup, fried okra, green beans with new potatoes, biscuits, and strawberries and sliced peaches for dessert. If you gotta have some "meat", anything will do - I just don't need it with that.

I called the Moose Lodge and Harley-Davidson plus several Veteran's groups to ask for help with our Support the Troops Rally this Friday. Harley-Davidson and Moose Lodge were very receptive to helping get the word out. Several Veteran's groups have to walk on egg shells because they can not get politically involved but they have told me they would do what they could to spread the word. I calso called the city councilman's office who joined us a couple of times and left a message for him that we need his help.
God Bless our Troops!! God Bless America!

SM; I see HiJinx got you a Margarita. Need anything else?

B4Ranch: Here are some chile peppers to spice up the salsa. Teacup-look forward to you making us some authentic hot salsa with your homegrown chiles someday soon when you get caught up.

G'nad:Someday we will have a Mexican feast featuring all of your favorite dishes. I will have to drag out some more cookbooks but I am a fast learner when it comes to Mexican.

Whoever: How about some chicken tamales? Gringo version on the left, Oxaca version on the right.

Ok, you cook the turkey breasts - they do sound yummy! I'll do the rest! (Unless your wife wants to make the biscuits - I only do Bis-Kits or the Pillsbury frozen ones - not the canned ones) :)

Oh, daisy!!! Decisions, decisions, decisions!

Why don't I solve this dilema with one of each? I love kiwis with Mexican food. Nice touch, daisy. Thanks.
