This is 100% true. The blood supply was a mess back then. People who had hemofelia got aids and some got two or three different strains before they knew they were infected. Some younger FR members might not remember the mess. It was a regular pratice for addicts to sneek in and give blood in the 70's and 80's. If they only had AIDS from sharing needles and not other diseases then their blood would get into the system because they never checked for it.

Blood screening for HIV antibodies started in 1985 or 1986. We sold the first diagnostic test for it.
