Like I said, my Dad served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict - he was just a kid during WW2. I think the Baby Boomers were the kids of the men coming home from WW2. I was born at the tailend of 1958. GW Bush is a baby boomer, his dad did serve during ww2 and he is 12 years older than I am.

Considering that they are in a foreign country and don't understand what ALL of us are saying... I was in Paris and got treated like CRAP when I tried to speak French... I was just trying to order a beer.
To: ValerieUSA
Perhaps it's the difference between city people and country people that makes our experiences unalike
Probably. I think that cuts across all nationalities and ethnicities. (Even displaced Yanquis can learn to like rural living)

Ahh,Mr.Thurber's daydreamer.A good role model!

Hey doo-doo head - you drink WINE in Paris, not beer. *LOL* You mean you went to Paris without me? Serves you right to be treated rudely! Am I bringing back memories?
To: ValerieUSA
On an Airmans salary, you drink beer in Paris... when your not a wine drinker!

Rant
Believe it or not Rowdee, I don't disagree with most of what you said. I wouldn't be quite as brash about it, but that is your style, and doesn't bother me in the least.
If I sound like I am defending ALL Mexicans then I apologize, but most of the ones I have met here in NC really just want to do better for themselves, the same as you and I. I can't comment on the rallys you spoke about, but I will keep my eyes peeled for threads about immigration from now on.
It may be totally different out there, where y'all are being overrun. It isn't that way here yet. (at least not in this part of the state, and I think we have one of the largest concentrations)
Now I am NOT against LEGAL immigration, only ILLEGAL immigration
I HAVE noticed however, that when ANY one group of people discover ways to ride the system, then they WILL do it if left unchecked. That is the same for Mexicans, Blacks, Indians, White people, purple Aliens, ALL of them.
To: ValerieUSA
Actually, being treated rudely gave me stories for years to come. I think that has become the Frenchies schtick for tourism.
To: ValerieUSA
If you read this thread, you'll see it is serious.
Val, I think they want to put all of the daily threads under the other section of the forum. I don't think we are being demoted or anything.
To: gratefulwharffratt
I am NOT against LEGAL immigration, only ILLEGAL immigrationAMEN, brother!
To: Prentice
And for that matter...technically, so are you.
Everything I have read puts the start of Gen X at 1965, or about 20 years after the war ended.

I remember the Mexican families in Mossyrock Washington (tree planters mostly) - the children at the small school were very well-behaved and had perfect attendance. They would always get awards and did well in school even though their parents would/could not speak English. I was very proud of them. Their families valued the education they were getting. Here in the city in Texas it is a different story for the most part. Too many single young men = a LOT of crime. In Washington I was wary of the Mexican men, and moreso here. I don't have to know the language to know the kinds of remarks they make about me when they stare, and smile and laugh and drink... I lived next door to a duplex full of unemployed drinking Mexican men for too long to be unaware. However, they were more respectful after the sister of one of them told them I was a widow. I think for a long time they thought I had all of these kids without ever being married and was fair game.

"I am all but frothing at the mouth of a bunch of traitors running this country....and no one wants to hold them accountable for a darn thing. I'll try to shut up for the rest of the evening...and just be happy."
I don't know who you're calling a traitor but if it's the President I'd like to see your facts. Not personal feelings, emotional opinions or heresay stories passed on from somebody's neighbor's cousin's ex-wife. We lived 8 miserable and disgraceful years under a real traitor and I thank God everyday of my life for President Bush. He had a messs to clean up from the previous administration and he's done a fine job no thanks to a biased liberal media and a handful of whining RINOs. The man has an awesome burden that was not of his making and I'm damned sure not going to condemn him for making the decisions that most of us are not equiped to handle. I'll spend my time trying to help him help my country instead of sitting on my behind and ranting about a pet issue.

Haven't paid attention to this since she killed her children. I think anyone who would do that needs to be done away with. She did not have a gun to her head and was not forced to do that.
I am glad those kids are dead. Genes that rotten should never be allowed to reproduce. After they give her the needle, they need to castrate the father, just to make sure

Please OCC, that was the Damned Frogs!!!!!
The Mexican sitting next to you, speaking the same broken French, would be treated like gold, if they could cause you the ARROGANT AMERICAN some pain. They hate us.

..."How do you think they would react if you did?? Considering that they are in a
foreign country and don't understand what ALL of us are saying...
LOL, sweet ratty.....a lot of us here can't understand you southerners either!!! Hmmm...er, sorry, sir. *teheeheee*

Bruja
Bruja = witch.
And I WAS just kidding. I KNEW somebody would bust me. I just couldn't resist. That is why I am a Ratt!!
To: Rowdee
*LOL* That's true. My high school boyfriend spoke perfect English, I could understand him fine. However his parents were from South Carolina and I never understood a word his mom said. She loved me dearly, and I know she was a wonderful woman, but I had no idea what she said to me most of the time. I do know that she hasn't liked any of his girlfriends since, nor his wife now. Maybe they understood her well enough to argue - I just smiled and nodded. Whatever. *L*

The (mistaken) 'scarlet letter' is a concept understood by all, I guess.
