I find calling President Bush a traitor offensive and not welcome here.

I agree but this is FR, where calling George W. Bush a traitor is considered being kind, by some here. They hate government and politicians but they love their country.

A quick read of this lengthy thread seems to indicate that along with President Bush being 'a traitor' we're all going to die in a nuke blitz any day now and most of America is sleeping.

A bit overblown but just enough truth in the article and some of the posts to be depressing. Still, the wild accusations just make a lot of 'conservatives' look foolish and constantly accusing President Bush of being a traitor is uncalled for, but not, of course, to those making the accusation. So be it. First Amendment lives on FR!

President Bush is going to get a Missle Defense System and Russia may join us in the effort. The cold war really is over and we are not going to nuke anybody if it can be avoided. Russia needs us and has it seems decided to go with the west and not east.

By forming this alliance with Russia one of the things accomplished is telling the Saudis we don't need thier oil so they lose power over us immediately. They cannot replace our market share easily. I think Putin wants Russia to join the 21st Century and to allie themselves with us. It really is thier only hope. They have tried everything else.

Ping.

I'm still wading through the replies, so maybe someone already discussed this: Anyone with knowledge of nuclear weapons and meteorology know how, and to what degree, all other countries in the Northern Hemisphere would be affected by a full-out nuclear blitz against the U.S?

Checked out Betrayal...thanks for the tip.Solid read...

Your Welcome. This book is hair raising to say the least. Well written and very well documented. In fact there was a stir over the book being written by Bill Gertz because some " people" said that it was not right for Gertz to print " actual high level security documents".

His point was, as he said, to show the American people just how easy it was to obtain any high level documents with Xlintoon in office. I'm sure you won't be disappointed in the book, shocked by what you read but not disappointed.

As I have said on previous threads Clinton has caused more threat and damage to national security than Al Qaeda could ever dream of.

My thoughts exactly. I too have said the same thing on many other threads. People still don't get it, they still think it was all about sex. We and future generations will suffer & reap what he sowed while he was in office. It has only just begun.

"I agree but this is FR, where calling George W. Bush a traitor is considered being kind, by some here. They hate government and politicians but they love their country."

This is pretty typical of any conservative, Jim. Up until this (even I have to admit) impressive rallying behind George W., conservatives were always known to be skeptical of politicians and even more skeptical of government.

Skeptical is one thing, hostile and unrelenting negativism is another, but I do understand it. I just don't share it, especially when we have a decent, moral President like Bush in office. The desire to have a Thomas Jefferson clone as our leader as well as pure constitutional republic again is also quite understandable, if naive and unrealistic at this late date.

Politics has always been fertile ground for dissent and disagreement, hence, FR. I get that - as well as the grumbling against Bush - but it does get a tad tedious some days when we have a threat to our nation ongoing and a competent administration in power. Still, I enjoy the debates, just not the rancor.

I guess I am. Attacking our leaders for getting rid of vital US military technology--what a crime.

Exactly right IMHO. Russia has a very serious population problem (highly negative growth rate) and the Chinese will pour over their borders in a way that will make our own border problems look like nothing.

If Russia were to join up w/ China, it would be a dance where the they follow, not one where they lead...

Yup. Russia is well on its way to becoming a friendly equal with the US. It's not at all in their interest to rekindle the cold war. They have so much to benefit from being "with us", and nothing at all to benefit from being against us. There are still old line commies there who long for the glory days of the Soviet empire, but they are attriting out and have no real power. The next step for the FSU is the creation of a viable middle class, and with the various economic reforms (private property rights, including real estate and private farm land ownership), it's just a question of time. I expect to see it within our lifetime.
