He has always told us that in any situation, you would never have more of a burden put upon you than you could bear. That DNA blob you speak so glibbly of was a "gift", he sent that gift to that person for a reason. Billions of those gifts have been sent back to him mangled and "unopened", but they are free now, and they are no longer mangled.
You speak about all of the terrible things these mothers go through, but I'll bet you'll not find one that was not at least given a shot at life. It was not their little bodies that were mutilated and their brains that were scrambled, it was those little blobs, but take comfort for those little souls, for they suffer no more, in case you ever gave a second thought to one of them.
Those chosen mothers will never know the suffering they put the children through, no matter how hard they try. No suffering on earth will ever compare to what they did to those "Babies".
I am sure these are fine sentiments, but they are just as wasted on a one-celled zygote, as they are on a one-celled sperm. Why shouldn't I feel exactly the same way about a wasted sperm as you do about a wasted zygote? Why shouldn't we tear out our hair and weep bitter tears every time I have to deny my god-given lust for becoming strangers? Why shouldn't that be treated as manslaughter, and any woman who resists me as a murderer?
Your friend Mom_Grandmother
I am sure these are fine sentiments, but they are just as wasted on a one-celled zygote, ...What I wonder is ... why you persist in utilizing such highly (purposely?) misleading terminology? You know that by the time any abortion is ever considered, the fetus is long past the one-celled zygote phase. I know you do. We've discussed this before.
I responded to this in post 219, but you did not come back to the issue--I'll be less succinct:
It is not misleading terminology, it is precisely to-the-point terminology--except to those who plan to bury the exact nature of the moral problem in a blizzard of crocodile tears.
May I assume that it is your position that a zygote may be aborted? May a two-celled fertilized human egg be aborted? A four cell? What is the criteria you wish to use? May I assume that you see no moral problem with the morning-after pill? How about a D&C as soon as I miss my period? How about a D&C a week after sex?
