I was too sleepy to post yesterday morning when I read this. I guess what shocks me the most is the change of attitude. When I was growing up, all we heard about was the evils of communism and what they did to their own people. And now we have Americans glorifying it in a very public Boston Globe??? Blech!
What they failed to mention is all these "terrific" social programs come at a huge price. Sure your children have access to medical care and day care (if you are a good communist), but THEY AREN'T YOUR CHILDREN ANY MORE. They belong to Castro.
These people are idiots. They were only allowed to see what Castro wanted them to see.

"We learned of year-long maternity leaves at 60 percent pay..." What is 60% of almost nothing anyways????

"...the Communist party will begin in elementary school with the so-called "Cumulative School File." This is a little like a report card, but it is not limited to academic achievements. It measures "revolutionary integration," not only of the student but also of his family..." Whose eye's bugged open when they read this little tid bit? The exact same thing is happening in our schools today. Several states have "tolerance" report cards and children aren't allowed to graduate unless they have done a whole list of "tolerance" exercises and "approved" community projects. (approved community projects does not include working in a crisis pregnancy center, for example)
I read a book documenting this once, called Brave New Schools. It's already happening here.

These people are idiots. They were only allowed to see what Castro wanted them to see. They admit in their own article they don't see it all but STILL they praise this communist model!
This is more than stupidity, it is their belief that communism is better than a democratic republic.

"This is more than stupidity, it is their belief that communism is better than a democratic republic" Yes, you are right in what you say. I read they mentioned that.

(approved community projects does not include working in a crisis pregnancy center, for example)As one of my daughters (old enough to have escaped the public schools, thankfully for her and for ME) would say: "I think I am going to hurl." Even many churches are espousing "tolerance" and are afraid to speak out for what is Biblically RIGHT. Wake up, America.

Very sad. Tolerance isn't Biblical. Loving your enemy is, but that doesn't mean I have to tolerate sin. I just have to love that person's soul and speak the truth in love, etc. Guess I'm preaching to the choir. LOL
Wake up America is right! I have a tendency to grow content. Articles like this always scare the poop out of me, and remind me to stay on guard.

It's not a laughing matter, though, and you're right. We have to stay on guard, and no matter how tough it is, we have to speak up and stand for what is right.
