Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe a black hs won statewide election since Douglas Wilder was elected Governor of Virginia.

I know of three "minor" offices offhand.

Dem - Carl McCall, New York, Comptroller.
GOP - Ken Blackwell, Sec of State, OHIO
"Nonpartisan, but really GOP" - Robert Young, Supreme Court Justice, Michigan.

BTW - All Michiganders, please vote for Robert Young again this November as he's up for re-election.
