A group of Orange County high school singers was recently told by the Orange County Red Cross that they could not say “God” or “prayer in their songs, which were supposed to be performed to honor those who were murdered on Sep. 11. As a result, their brave Group Director, Cherilyn Bacon, has withdrawn the group of students, who hail from the Orange County High School of the Arts, from the program. Ms. Bacon’s own school administrators are now attacking her, as you will read in the article below.

In my opinion, the Orange County Red Cross is abridging the Constitutional Right to Free Speech by telling the students that they cannot mention “God” or “Prayer” in their songs. This incident may also be categorized as an attack on religious freedom and it certainly seems to be a restriction on artistic expression.
