This hilarious effort on the part of a "redskin" got me to thinking.....if they are so sincere about wanting people to "feel right" about mascots then we'll have to apply affirmative action to all the NBA and the NFL, to golf, to soccer, etc. This is as it has always been......ludicrous.....and they are exposing it themselves.

It's good! Thanks, bloodthirsty savages, we appreciate the recognitions. Perhaps an image of a white U.S. Marine, in full combat gear would make a good mascot. Or an Irish police officer from Long Island. Or maybe some Navahos huffing spray paint in a K-Mart parking lot in Boulder. Wait a minute, those Navahos don't sound so good. Bravo! This might actually catch on. Let's see the Atlanta White Braves in action or perhaps the Washington WhiteSkins. Lets see how stupid we can make people feel that have some kinda Indian heritiage problem. Last time I checked...there are 25 plus states that are named for Indians and nobody was saying a word about that. Same for rivers and towns. Perhaps we just need to be sarcastic and make people look stupid to make this point.

It does point out the asininity of the protest against nicknames (they're not always mascots) that invariably stress a trait positive to an athletic tem; i.e., strength, indomitablity, and the like.

Indian mascots are usually BRAVES so therefore the White mascot should be a MARINE or MINUTE MAN not some wimp in a suit But that would be fair and analogous and thus not serve their purpose, which was ridicule. As it is, even the dated white man in a suit drawing is not as demeaning as they hoped it would be.

Tennessee Volunteers... not that all volunteers are white, but the volunteer mascot is a white male (the coonskin cap guy. He also carries a rifle).

Vanderbilt commodore is white, but there is always that question about gender.

The old Boston/New England Patriot on the side of the helmet was white, but I think he was gay. That crouching wink always bothered me.
