Bellesiles is getting scorched. Reviews of the William and Mary Journal article, which I haven't read but in which he was supposed to defend his research point by point, indicate that he dodges the critical questions in much the same way that he has dodged them in the past. Once Emory completes its investigation, and assuming Bellesiles will be unable to supply university investigators with plausible explanations for the paltry state of his research data, it will be very interesting to see if Emory has the cajones to penalize him significantly by, for example, stripping him of tenure, or if they find some reason to let him go with a slap on the wrist. The Bancroft people have already said that they are not going to revoke the prize.

My husband made a comment the other day after hearing some "expert" actually say that Bellasiles is simply in error and not dishonest ....

My husband said:"JUST WHERE did that jerk Bellasiles think all the guns the MILITIA used at Lexington and Concord came from??? Out of the clouds???"
